is there any way to modify mixer_gain without root? i used this mod on my S5 but i had root. and i don't want to root my note5.
no.must have root

after unzipping in custom recovery boot looping
had to flash again the rom

(wipe cache/dalvik was made)
:(

N9208 duos
ofcourse your device is dual sim it must has more lines in mixer gain.xml
maybe you upload your mixer_gain.xml and I will make the mod for you

Can i use this on the tmobile note 5?
I am not sure but it should work make a system backup before flashing

Worked great just wha i needed thx

Hello I am not familiar with how to use code to make changes on my phone. You said to "copy the code" then what do I do? Does my phone need to be rooted?

---------- Post added at 06:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:02 AM ----------

as I had the M8 before the Note 5 I felt how less the volume levels compared to M8 especially on headphones
so I moded mixer_gain.xml in system/etc to get much higher volume even higher than the M8 ;)
so decided to share because why not
the only issue I had is that the music stops when you max the volume with some devices (like my car's AUX) the only one though so if you know a fix I would be very grateful if you share it

instructions just copy the xml file in the zip attached to system/etc
or simply flash the zip from recovery and hit thanks that would be helpful to me :)
What do I do with the code to make the change in my note 5? I am uneducated in this area. Does my phone need to be rooted or modified in any way prior to modifying the sound level?
Thanks!

you must be rooted and if you have a custom recovery just flash my file
also there is SkyHigh kernel that deals with the sound much better on kernel basis (better than the mixer one)
