Will this work for a non touch wiz ROM running 4.4.2 though perseus kernel seems to work fine for me. Is this in any way better than the synapse controls ?

I have only one file, that made it easy to find everything.
If you can make a zip/rar file off these files and upload them i can have a look at them if you want

Hi, i have 2 files for you to test, nr 1 & nr 2.
If possible make a nandroid backup before testing, so if your device doesn't start you can restore a working phone because i cannot test this on my phone so i don't know if it will work :)

first try with file 1, it only has one edited file, you should replace the one in your system\etc\snd_soc_msm directory (keep a backup of the original files) with the new one from me.
After replacing, set permissions (rw-r-r) and reboot and test sound. i've set it to medium boost
If nothing happens to the sound, unpack nr 2 and copy them all to \system\etc\ snd_soc_msm ->remember you have to set permissions to every file that you replaced before restarting !

Hi i have been testing the files doing exactly what you were saying, and i never Heard any implement, with my headphones, (there are a Senheisser Studio) and testing too with my studio monitors (Speakers) Yamaha Hs80m.
the sound of the phone speaker, i think, that may have improved.
my Android is 4.3 original Stock rom and stock kernel.
thanks you so much to be helping me :)

Did the sound for speaker become louder with only the need for file one ?
If so, i have prepared a new file for you to test :)
Same procedure : make a nandroid backup if possible (it's inside the recovery when you bootup the device and makes a perfect copy of the moment in case something goes wrong)
copy & overwrite the original file in system/etc/... and set parameters to rw-r-r before restarting. I hope i can help you :)

Hello!, good news, this works! :) im testing the sound and i can hear more level of output with my senheiser studio headphones.
i can hear that the sound quality is the same, its diffcult to explain what is the problem of the s4, because one thing is the volume and other is the quality of the signal, I have been testing the sound and i can appreciate at all levels, that the sound have a distorsion, i think that not a distorsion of noise, is like the music sounds overcompressed. i tested with some interfaces of my record studio like Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 and the sound isnt the same, some frecuencies from 50 to 600 MHz are limited and compacted.

try it, if you listen one of your favorite songs carefully with your headphones, you can hear "mini increases and decreases of volume level" maybe it could be the amplifier of sound, and how is gestioned. this is why i say that is like overcompressed sound.

i came from a Galaxy S3, and the sound quality and output level (with all stock of Samsung) is bad, worse than the s4...
i installed Siyah Kernel with Stweks in the s3, and WOW, the sounds turn into amazing!, (im speaking about flat presets, not "eargasm" or other settings) the quality is like my Focusrite, like my mac book pro, and others....
i heve read that Siyah kernel includes Vodoo Sound, and this is the reason of why the quality and level is better. could be the way of conversion of the signal from digital to analog, without noise and a best gestión of the chip phisical output amplifier.

i Heard other s4 models and their have the same problem with the quality, but i saw that there is posible to install other kernels like Perseus ,wich allows the use of Stweks.

is there anyway to solve this problem?
with mods,with kernel?? :silly:
jaja

thanks you so much for your constant help. :D:fingers-crossed:

Cool, nice to hear the sound is louder on your device now :) so the other files might not be needed
Well, i never listen to earphones to be honest, but i have a senheiser (a cheap 50 dollar version) also so i am listening to a song at the moment, if i play at normal sound volume i cannot say i hear any distortion. i am using neutron music player, one of the few apps i bought for my phone because it has multiple settings for sound quality, it has a free trial version (and it also has an option to boost the speaker volume even more but with this mod it will sound distorted quite quickly)

Hi, I have tried all the files posted on this thread, but no one seems to make my sound louder :(
In the folder /system/etc/snd_soc_msm I have these files.
It's a I9505 with Omega v24 (kk 4.4.2). Thanks ;)
Every firmware seems to have different soundfiles lately ? :(

The easiest way to change volume is to do this : (i will explain for speaker, all the rest goes the same way)

1 Copy every file from the directory in your picture to your pc and open them all with notepad++ (you can do it directly on your phone with the built in editor from root explorer but it is much more easy to find everything when working on a pc)
2 search for 'speaker' (it is somewhere in the middle of every file) and after that look a little lower for 'digital volume' -> it will probably be somewhere around 66% by default
3 Change from (+/-) 66 to 70-75% depending on your wish to have louder or super loud speakers (don't go over 75% as it is very loud and might break your speaker !)
It is the same way for every sound option, search for the digital volume for the option you want to change (these parameters are somewhere in the middle of the files) and change from (+/-) 66 into 70 up to 75%
4 Once you have saved you must copy these files back to your phone and set permissions to rw-r-r and reboot to see if it worked.

Thank you very much for the support ;)
First of all, I did an other nandroid backup, then I deleted one by one the files in that directory (one file deleted -> reboot -> test audio ok), for finding the file that effectively drives the sound.
I was very lucky because I deleted 7 of the 9 files and all was OK; the 2 survivors were "snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3" and "snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm" (the 2 files I remember I had modified in 4.3 sound mod), then I deleted "snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm", reboot and bootloop

Now, I'm restoring my /system folder from nandroid, then I'll try to edit these 2 files as you explain me and I'll let you know ;)

EDIT:
It seems that "snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3" is also needless. I deleted it and all it's ok, so the file that drives my sound should be only "snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm".
I opened it and the values are already on 71-72%, so I think it was already edited by Omega modders.. that's why I couldn't notice difference.
For now I leave just this file in the directory, just to verify that effectively it's enough.

The strange thing is that with 4.3 I had the ModerateBoost that should correspond to a value of 69% and I was satisfied.
Now, with the values at 71-72%, it seems no powerful like before... especially the ear-speaker during calls
(it is the SectionDevice "Handset", right? :D)

The "Extra Vol" corresponds to the louder sound when I tap on Extra Volume during a call?
If yes, I have the same value in "Handset" and in "Handset Extra Vol"

Hi! Contrisan, I have been researching about the sound, and i have found the problem (well, i think that is it the problem),
i said that i hear a kind of overcompressed audio, with incresing and decreasing of volume level at some song that have heavy mix.
i was searching some info and yes, this is a process of digital audio hifi devices named "NEGATIVE DIGITAL GAIN" , there is a configuration of the device, that is used when you have a song with a heavy mix (for example dance,electronic,dubstep,etc...) to calculate if the song its going to have a distorsion in some point of the song. if the phone "detect" a posible distorsion, decrease the volume level 1 or 2 dbs (discretely)...

I have been looking Siyah Kernel and Stweaks, and exactly, Stweaks have an option named negative digital gain, and there is disbled.
i tryied to put it enabled and yes,i hear the same sound like my s4 have now...

Do you know what can i do to disable it? :(
maybe some option in the snd_soc_msm files ?
:) thanks you so much !
