yea... see that's the thing ive been looking at logcat... plugging and unplugging the hdmi cable in to see what it is dooing. and around the line
1aa890affffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
is when it is plugged in...
Hmmm... The NVIDIA_HDMI Service should be chiming in right there... even if the above modified files were completely deleted, it would complain about the inability to launch the PortalService I would suggest reinstalling the Deodexed APKs from scratch first... Then reapplying this mod.

*Edit* in Fact you could simply replace the modified files in DG's tar file.

Awesome work. Does the hardware dock still work the same after the install? Im suspecting the dock "hands off" in software the signal of the connected monitor to the phone when docked. I still want to keep usb host mode for future mods

Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Should still work Just fine, but I would backup the modified files first, and report back if it doesn't.

When I plug in the phone through the HDMI, I get the 'Mototola Webtop' and the 'Media Dock' menu that pops up (Motorola Webtop didn't come up before the mod) but when I select the 'Motorola Webtop' function, nothing happens, it just sits there. When I select 'Media Dock' though, it launches, so I know it is no problem with my connection. Does anybody have any idea on what I'm doing wrong?

Did you replace all three APK files?
Sounds like what happened when before the PortalApp apk was unmodified.

Im having the same issue with the Phone doing nothing when i plug in the motorola provided HDMI cable.
Might try clearing your Dalvik cache.

Don't run the command at the end. Reboot, plug in, should go into webtop, if its the first time, could take 8-10 seconds.

I am at a loss. I dont know how to get my webtop back. I've reinstalled Adeo which does clear the Dalvik Cache. Still no success. Also I've tried a factory reset to no avail.

I do not have a backup of my /system.

i believe we need to get the PortaApp service running again. I just dont know how.

Did you freeze any apps in the system? There is one that is suggested in the thread that breaks this mod its something like com.Motorola.extdisp

On the off chance that it's something weird, check the permissions on the APK files in the /system/app folder. mine are RW-R--R--
Repaired permissions, no change in the condition.

Apps were frozen, yes.

I believe the root explorer method is what broke webtop. it seems all that have used the ADB method have had success.

Should the permissions for all three files be rw-r--r--

*facepalm* Can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks :)

EDIT: Getting a FC loop when I replaced the original portal file.
Now,
Reboot.

Out of curiosity... try running "ls -l" in /system/app

And post the results here.... Maybe the owner of the files got fecked.
