What runs on Google Play?

Obviously this is a huge mountain to jump over with rooting and all, should be easy
with the instructions on XDA in threads as always but BEFORE making the leap...

What actually works in Play? I've had devices go unrecognized even without being
rooted like my Zeki tablet, Google's dev guys just refuse to certify it because it
doesn't come with Play Store installed. So therefore, they never will while making
excuses.

That's my main question, am I going to hit a ton of incompatibles where I can't even
attempt an install of that app or a giant chunk of them? If so, it's far easier to
scan for APK's and sideload them or other means than clog it all up with Play
itself.

Those who've got this working, what walls are you hitting with your OUYA and App
installs? Not incompatibilities, we know those exist naturally as some aren't written
to work on the OUYA or Tegra 3 chipsets. I'm talking about how bad can't you
install various Apps?

package file invalid

I got everything installed and for that alone I thank you!

but from here, I cannot install anything or use the playstore, all I get is "package file invalid"

nothing will update, and I cannot install any apps, they just loop a couple times than pup up the error message

Alright, that worked. Guess it should have stated you need to select the checkbox (using a mouse/the touchpad). After that installing went fine.
I had this problem. Just been reading through the thread and came across your post. I used touchpad instead of the controller buttons and now I managed to install Play store! Thanks.

Play Store FCs for me ):

Installed via script, had problems so installed manually via method 2, worked good. Added my Google account, and now Play Store just FCs as soon as it tries to load.

What to do? D:

Edit:

I've tried solutions on this thread: replaced app_process, disabled->enabled PS4Ouya on the Xposed framework, still FCs :/

Make sure the Play Store mod is checked in the Xposed Installer
I did ): it is. Still FCs. I tried running app_process and I got this:
Code:
/system/bin/app_process
Error: no class name or --zygote supplied.
Usage: app_process [java-options] cmd-dir start-class-name [options]
   with Xposed support (version 34)
Segmentation fault

Edit: logcat

The OUYA basically looks like a Tablet to the Play Store, so you can actually install a lot of apps & games. However, using them is a different story... Apps & games that allow interaction with the controller work quite well.
I couldn't get any Gameloft titles (that I purchased) to work because of their stupid device whitelist code which won't allow the game to play on any unrecognized device.
Rockstar titles seem to work well; I tried Max Payne and it worked perfectly. I didn't bother trying GTA3 since I already beat it a long time ago on my Kindle Fire. SuperGNES, SonicCD, Sonic 4 ep I, Metal Slug 3 (installed via Humble Bundle app), Nextapp FX (awesome file manager), Titanium Backup all work great.

If anybody could figure out how to get the external USB Storage device to be used for Apps2SD, that would be fantastic!

I use foldermount for app2sd. It's like 2 bucks on play store. Worth every penny. I also use it on my 16GB Galaxy S4. I can't believe these devices were released with such little storage. Apps are huge nowadays.

Maybe I'm stupid, but why aren't the "Paid" section of apps on here? I know Ouya is an "all games are free" system, but I wanna download the apps I've already paid for, haha.

The web interface is stupid and I hate it.

And by the way, WHY THE HELL doesn't Google have an "Apps you've bought" section? They did back in the good ol' days back in Eclair through around early early early Gingerbread...

If you are logged in you need to click on the down arrow in the top right corner of the play store. This will show apps you have bought.

HAHA yeah, and along with the hundreds of free apps I've ever downloaded. Google really screwed up the store.

Google Play Games

I am having errors when running google play games. The app just opens up and then closes. I also can't get an app list in google settings for a google+ login. Has anyone been able to run google play games on the ouya successfully?
