Could the fact that some of us keep losing root even with your mod have something to do with which OUYA we're using? I know mine's a kickstarter unit and that caused problems with the OUYA toolbox.
Same thing happened to me and I'm on a retail console. It's good that at least the Ouya still works after failing to install the update though...
@robinscp
Are you sure your update went through OK? What happens when you check for the latest system update?

It's too bad that this mod failed to work with firmware update 1.0.393-r1. Any ideas on how I can install without getting the red "!"? I'm thinking about waiting to update for awhile until (hopefully) this mod is updated to work... If it would be helpful, I can attach a logcat of what exactly is going on to make the installation fail

This happened to me, i kept getting the red "!" when updating and there's a way to fix this....What you do is instead of using the "Mod-collection for OUYA 3.0" by WonderEkin to preserve root, your going to use the Original "play store mod for OUYA 1.0" so go into XPOSED INSTALLER-MODULES and uncheck Mod_collection for ouya 3.0 and check the regular "play store mod for OUYA 1.0" and reboot the system, once the system reboots it will take you to the OUYA's main screen and it will start the update all over again but this time the update will install...i'm 100% sure that the problem with the new update and the red "!" has to do with the "Mod_collection for OUYA 3.0", and it needs to be fixed...hope this helps someone:D

It actually appears to be the Preserve SU and Mods option. As soon as I unchecked that, the update went through, even though the module was still installed. Of course it did lose root though... but since the files are all around on the Ouya still, it's a fast re-rooting...

Hi, another mod using Xposed framework[/URL] to preserve su & mods during update.
I haven't bothered to update to the latest firmware (I'm in no hurry really). Hopefully this mod will get fixed since currently the "SU & Mods Preserver" must be turned off for the firmware to successfully install. I would like to continue using this mod for all future updates so I'm really hoping this gets worked out... anyone know if WonderEkin will be able to fix this?

The "SU & MODS Preserver" works fine on my OUYA w/ CWM recovery.
I will restore the stock recovery and try to fix it. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

You were able to install the July 25th System OUYA Firmware Update 1.0.393-r1? Is CWM recovery required for this mod to work?

I have CWM recovery on my Ouya and the SU & MODS Preserver didn't work, not quite sure CWM is the key here but I hope something is found. Let me know what info, if any, I can provide to help troubleshoot what's going on.

Sorry guys it was fun while it lasted but after getting my nexus 7 with Hdmi out I bailed and returned mine. I just can't handle the overscan stuff. I might jump back in on Ouya 2 or when things get fixed.

Just wanted to post that I finally have everything working

Not sure how though. After toggling the mods on and off and multiple resets I was finally able to force 720p output

Pretty buggy but I finally got the job done.

Man customizing the OUYA has been nothing but janky and messy from the very beginning!

minor update

Ver 3.5
Add "Install Play Store" function
Custom Overscan Scale Val (0.00 - 0.20)
Add "Reboot" button at the bottom
We're you able to fix the issue many of us are getting when updating to the latest Ouya firmware with this mod? Or is CWM required for this to work?

This update is frikkin awesome. Although the text still looks a little funny, 0.07 seems to be the magic number for my TV. This is extremely helpful and now I don't feel weird using it on my TV anymore.

I've just install the stock recovery and have a try, the stock recovery will verify the update.zip signature before flashing it.
So, yes, we need CWM recovery if we need the OTA root keeper.

Do you think it possible to add a CWM installer to your mod for us noobs that have no adb experience. I am rooted using. RootMyOuya which also installed Superuser. I then install jrummy's busybox. After doing that I remember you could flash CWM using rom mansger but you have to select which device you are installing it on and Ouya is not on the list. But, the Asus Transformer Infinity is and it uses the same Nvidia T33 cpu and mali 400 gpu as Ouya. So maybe we could get by with selecting the Asus Transformer Infinity. But some braver and more 'knowledgeable person than me did to try it first incase it screws up and they will know how to fix it.

BTW, after installing this mod and I see it in the Ouya make section, when I click on it no page pop ups allowing me to install playstore or anything eles. What am I missing?

Will try to release it(w/CWM recovery) today.

You mean you can't run this mod? You may need Xposed Framework but it is not required to start this mod.

I'm getting the same thing. I click open, there's a slight pause, then I'm kicked back to the home screen. No force close, "not responding" or anything. Installing the framework didn't help. Could you give an MD5 sum for the apk? The icon it's showing is the default android with a box on his chest, which often indicates a corrupt apk, but could also just indicate you didn't add your own icon.

Derp. The apk for the framework installer is just that. It installs the installer. I ran the installer, and now the mod collection works.
