I have the same problems like you in My files and contacts. I have searched for those two to download in the main ROM thread in android development section, but unable to find. Please share.
Already done what you have said, also did the same thing earlier, i.e. copy and replace the seccontacts and secmyfiles2014 in the system\apps and change permissions as 644, but no change has been observed. Please help as i want to continue with this ROM.
have you deleted older files of seccontacts and secmyfiles2014 (if you are using hoplite rom then its secmyfiles)
check for priv-app, if older files are there then delete them
note: name of the file and location doesn't matter
you can keep apk in system\apps or system\priv-app
and only one file should be there either in apps folder or priv-app folder

b) "Clear defaults", "clear cache", "clear data" in contacts/app info/application manager.

Done as per your above advise, 1) "my files" problem solved. but 2) contacts force closing when trying to make a call, whether it is a normal call or trying to know my voda balance(ussd call). Trying to solve it by

Somehow Solved
I m using Hoplite 1.1. But the i solved the problem in a crude way, just saw the seccontacts.apk is in the "app" folder and seccontactsProvider.apk" is in the "priv-app" folder. So, i copy the seccontacts apk and paste it in the priv-app folder and reboot. The problem is gone.:angel: Anyway thanks for your concern.

it will only work on s4 mini with Android 4.4 stock touchwiz rom , and not for s4

It can not be extended by pulling down
Its just a button which was in top right corner before in old system ui
You need to tap there to extend
(systemui is modified using apktool and xml editing, do google for more info)
