Did you manage to get a Bayer camera module from SBE like you said you were going to try in this thread?

No, SBE were not very helpful, and global direct parts wouldn't tell me what type of camera modules they had.

Like I said, I've tried flashing stock sbfs, so I was sure it was the camera hardware that was broken. In the end, I decided to order from global direct parts, and they arrived 3 days later in the UK! Very fast delivery!



They turned out to be SoC modules, not Bayer, but it still won't focus!

I guess it's possible (although unlikely) that the modules they sent me are also broken, but I have no other way of testing them.

Now I'm completely confused, as an sbf flash with a data and cache wipe should remove any possible software cause, and I've tried replacing the actual camera. What could possibly cause this

Is there any advance in diagnosing the problem. I'm experiencing the same here but not camera nor camera 360 focuses, not auto nor manual.

Working solution!!! : D

Installed QR Droid from market, started it, scanned code from macro mode and moved phone to 40-50 cm distance. It's scanning all the way in real time and clicking can be heard. Closed app, started any camera app and focusing works again! ^_^

Now i'm using CM9 Nightly, and in the past I used Argen2Stone(third)(v2 iguess), MS2Ginger(second) and PaysROM(first ROM).
and my Defy is RedLense, CatLog detected BAYER device, I'm acquired My defy extactly 1year before from today, on Brazil's TIM Shop.

auto focus is still dead and Pictures taken from 03-10cm is reasonable, above that is.....just awful.
by the way, whem I'm booting the phone i don't hear the weird sound that i used to hear...even when i'm trying to take some picture and keep pressing the shutter button

I have the same problem with bayern module.
Did anybody fix the defy with replacement of the module. This fix the problem?
Where can I bought the lens ?
It can fix only camera module or is not disassembled ? ( my DEFY was 4 day in water, It is 100% hardware problem)

I tried everything to fix my autofocus problem... From other mods, multiple other builds, etc. At first I thought it was a software issue, but it happens to be more then that.
Last time I tried the qr droid app, and for a moment my camera was fixed again, appears that the app forces the camera to try to focus on other focuspoints (funny noices). But this solution didnt last forever.
What works for me know (might be a bit of a hard method): Whenever I have the focus problem, I go into qr droid, and then hit several times the phone on the back. Suddenly it gains back its ability to focus!
Anyhow not a long time solution I guess, so I am planning to order a lens. My device is a bayer module, anyone out there who found a bayer module ?
