Modded Google Cam on Mix 2

I've been testing more and more of these camera apps. I'm running Lineage OS 15.1, and I just wanted a camera that works, without having to do a lot of modifications and tweaks to get it working.

Out of the box, this one "just worked":
GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Final_fu24-18.apk (fu24, 2019-01-25)
* has working Slow Motion
* has Portrait Photo
It's missing newer stuff like Night Sight and Google Lens, but everything seemed to work flawlessly.

This one needs to be changed to init SlowMo at 120fps, but so far seems to have the most working features:
MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun_2.apk (Arnova8G2, 2018-12-30)
* has sorta working Slow Motion (it only records in 1280x720, and stutters). Slow Motion can be disabled and removed from its interface, though.
* has Portrait Photo
* has Night Sight
* has Google Lens
You have to go to Settings > Advanced > FIX > "Init SlowMo with" and set to 120 FPS to get Slow Motion to work.

I recommend the first camera if you don't need Night Sight. Luckily, both can be installed at the same time, and they even have different colored icons.

Would be great update the topic post @loooller now that we found 2 fully working solution (or maybe 3 with the one posted by Devager for rooted devices), IMHO.

Edit: I can confirm the @BitingChaos post with stock rom (global stable 10.0.2.0) (and without root, I have only unlocked the bootloader and enabled the api camera with adb).
It works exactly as described. I can confirm also that you can install both apk togheter without issues and that the unique bug is the stutter slow motion videos on the Arnova camera, nothing else so far ;)

Someone know how to set the various settings of Arnova apk to have the very best results? Examples, hdr+ parameters (default is set to 7 but has a range 3-36), noise reduction (better activate or not and if yes with which algorithm?), etc.
Any idea?

Photos have a kind of pink color in low light. Any setting to prevent this?
I'm using MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3e_TlnNeun.apk
I think you should enable the option: settings->advanced->FIX->Improve in low light .

I don't have this problem (MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun_2.apk), only some pictures are a little too "cold" (so cyan color). BTW, all is easily adjustable with Snapseed if needed.

All is working for you with this version too?

It works perfectly with official global stable rom too, great!
All of the 6.1 ports seem to have issues with audio/visual sync on global stable in my experience. Doesn't seem to affect short videos but longer videos have the audio delayed by 30 seconds or so.

No issues with the 5.2 port linked

I tested it and the Arnova Port really works! the only problem for me is the latches on the rear camera when I select (BSG Config PixelPlusNS Hdr+) Does anyone know how to fix, without this setting it looks like the photos do not look really pretty

How come Xiaomi just doensn't care. They can just update the camera app so a lot of users won't have any problems (look at the number of users in this topic).

Mi Mix 2 camera sucked bad with stock

Rarely I make long videos, I was talking about all the functionalities quickly controllable like front\back shots (even if some issues with front camera who doesn't work always), zoom, night sight, portrait, short videos, Lens, etc. Clearly these ports never will be "perfect" but I think that the two apks posted are really close to it and, above all, safely reliable in everyday use (for me the target) :)

FYI it seems that enabling "Buffer fix" under settings->advanced (in quick settings)->FIX menu make the gcam a little faster and the front camera works more often (tested with MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun_2.apk)

Best settings for MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun_2 ?

For my experience:
HDR+ parameters fine with 36 but if you want front camera always work you should disable hdr+ when shot (with less parameters the back camera shot quicker, it's a your choice)
Quick settings->Advances all default except JPG quality to 100% and I enabled Portrait mode, Enhanced HDR+, "Motion" function and "Enable "Google photo"" but for these last 2 it's a your choice; under "FIX" I suggest to enable "Buffer Fix" and set to 120 "Init SlowMo with"
Photo resolution as you want, I prefer 16:9 to show on TV but it's completely a your choice
Video: enable stabilization, resolution as default for me

Other things as default I didn't found any particular issues also enabling Lens and dusty lens.

P.S.
In last weeks I tried newest apks but still the two suggested above seems to be the most stable for our device; I use them daily without problems

I installed it around 2 weeks ago (with MIUI Global Dev) without root like I did 2 months ago, something changed in these days? AFAIK, you need only to unlock the bootloader, use temporally TWRP for few seconds with ADB and it's done
