New LRB modem for Optus in Australia doubled the performance compared with CLP6 oh and significantly improved ping.

Hope battery life is OK.

Is there a specific build of LRB for Optus?

I'm also on Optus and am finding LPT modem much better than LRB, especially when 3G signal is low. It switches automatically to 2G and then back to 3G once the signal strength goes up. Battery life is also very good on LPT when coupled with Notecore kernel.

I've just completed 10 tests, both with really good signal and marginal signal.

On average I am finding LBR is twice the throughput of LPT... up and down. (Obviously varies from test to test) Interesting ping seems to be very close though.

Dunno, maybe it's just me... but going to hang with this for a week and see how it behaves. Going to be travelling to Sydney as well so will test out of Canberra.

I'm from Brazil.

Can i flash a radio that is from a different region?

Yes you can!

Here in Rio I have great results using LR1 and also with LB2. The problem is that Claro is becaming so crap (going together with TIM) that any modem can make my internet faster the way it was some months ago anymore!

But anyway, try LB2 and LR1. Use SpeedTest and try to watch videos on YouTube app to check which one is better.

Of course, try others also! Maybe there in São Paulo there will be other modem working better for you. But probably LR1 and LB2 will work great.

Flashed the LRB and the signal reception from vivo improved a lot. Although the speeds are a little bit slower.
But it's great to know I can try all of them :)
And man, good luck on your carrier :p

Dear friend, thanks for your wishes!

I extracted the modem from the Brazilian official 4.0.3 ROM (UBLP4) and a miracle has just happened for me using Claro here in Rio downtown region! Take a look at the picture attached!

I'm using AOKP ROM and now I really suggest for all Brazilian users to give a try to the modem used in the Samsung official ICS 4.0.3 ROM for Brazil.

OP, I will also try to upload UBLP4 modem here for your (brilliant) collection!

OP, here you are. From the official Brazilian ICS ROM.

And I truly recommend for everybody here in Brazil. As my attached picture in previous post, I just got 5,49 Mbps for download and 1,18 Mbps for upload using SpeedTest app. Really great, specially observing the fact that I'm using one of the carriers penalized this week here in Brazil due to poor quality services.

===============
Edit:

Just thinking here that this great result maybe can be a network upgrade from Claro, as a result of National Telecommunications Agency penalties. But, anyway, it's a great speed!

Brazil penalizes mobile carriers for poor service:

do we have any modem comparison done. For example - I am from India and on LB1 modem - how does the LB2 modem fare as compared to the LB1 and similarly how does the ICS modem fair against the GB modems. Does it break somethings or does it improve your signal strength etc.. These kind of information is really helpful. If we already have it sorry for asking and would be grateful if I can be directed to the right thread.

Thanks
Hey,
In the same soup. Generally I've seen that XXLPT works great for me but for the past couple of days, I get sudden loss of signal and it comes back only after rebooting the device (on Airtel, using CleaNote with GL_NoteCore v7).
How's LB1 ?

I'd like to see some feedback from people who flashed XXLRK... tell us how signal is... and most important, on what ROMs you tried it!

I'm on XXLR1 right now, with Fusion ROM v2.5, and I can't complain about signal... but if it can get better, sure I'll try a newer one :D

I was on LRB for a while.
Thought newer must be better so I flashed LRK.
No noticeable difference in signal or speed.

I'm very sure that most modems will give you that same effect no matter which version you're on. XD

Its very subjective...is all depend on your area, location and your Telco...
