I must say, DXLC1 modem for me in Singapore is excellent.
been seeing more off H+.
Now i hope battery life is as good as the reception.
Is LC1 the modem made specifically for Singapore stock roms?
Can anyone confirm if taking the modem for your country is better than taking the latest? THANKS!

Any recommendation regarding Vodafone in the UK, please? i.e. as to modem?

I'm currently running LA4, with CM9; it seems OK... anyone know better?

thanks much indeed...
I'm with VF UK on stock ICS. I found that the radio was much worse (for wifi) after ICS upgrade than it was on GB - and I attribute at least some of my poorer battery performance on ICS to that too.

So I tried LB1 and LB2 modems. LB2 was no better than stock ICS, LB1 I think gives a marginal improvement over the stock ICS - but it's so slight I may be imagining it.

In my case my access point is quite old (2.4GHz, b/g only), my victorian flat has huge thick walls, and about 30 other wifi access points competing above, below and on all sides for radio space ... so no modem is going to give great results as it's a physical limitation. However as I say, LB1 seems slightly stronger and more stable so far than the default ICS experience - though not as good as my old GB experience. That could be due to interference from other wifi access points hopping onto my channel though, it's a nsever-ending battle trying to select a relatively free channel. Probably time for me to get a new access point that does 5Ghz and automatically channel-hops to keep ahead of the neighbours!

Can't say I noticed any significant difference at all on the cell radio reception across the three modems (but that's just within my house, I haven't been out and about yet to try in real world conditions.

thanks much indeed! sorry, ran out of "thanks" today.
np. just to update, LB1 is definitely giving me more stability - I have 2 AP's on different channels, linked via powerline ethernet to maximise coverage in my house. Yesterday, in my bedroom (worst coverage) my note changed AP about 6 times over the hour or so I used it after waking up. Today it hasn't done so once. Further, I dropped about 20% battery in that hour yesterday while today the same routine has used only 7%.

I am no expert but I thought modem.bin was the firmware for the chips which handle both cell radio and wifi. If not, that's a great placebo effect I'm experiencing :)

As far as I know, Wifi is not related to modem. It's merged on the kernel.

If you want, you can PM Entropy, from CM9, and confirm.

Yeah I can confirm. Was using LR1 modem for a while then after flashing the GB LB2 to try, decided to then try the GB LA4 (Optus? Austraila) modem.

Definitely getting better signal, faster/more responsive 3g data and seems to be less battery drain too.

No, wifi depends on modem.

Made a test on some different modems last night... Speedtested wifi and 3g and got various results on wifi speed...

thats where you're wrong. wifi has gt nothing to do with radio.
and you should know better that those speedtests arent constant at all. your wifi download speed is all determined by how fast the server uploads plus many other factors. you arent the only one doing the tests so that explains why ur speedtest results fluctuates.

My UK Note shipped with LA4 modem, so I don't think it's an aussie job :)

or did I miss your point?

edit: wifi modem interaction speculation removed :)

Ohh, if you're sure, then I'll go flash LP6 (Philippines) later! :D I'll report if it worked differently for me. :O

Oh rly? I guess LA4 was (also) distributed to Australia then... ref: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574210. The OP there says he posted LA6 modem but realises it's LA4 afterwards.
