By root of sd card you mean literally, right? Not the viewable interal storage when connected to my pc? I used root explorer to copy to root of internal. Is the file removed after you flash the zip? Thanks for the help.
My exact question. I placed the file in both the viewable root from the PC, and the actual root where system is located. Tried multiple times but never got the updating operating system notification and base still shows LG2

Easiest way to do it is to download to phone. Use a file explorer, and navigate to "download" folder. Long press on the file, then select "move". Press "back" until your cards are showing. Select either, then press "OK"

sorry guys. didn't mean to make it confusing. i don't mean root of the system, but rather /sdcard rather than /external_sd (if you're using CM) or /mnt/extSdCard (if you're running a stock ROM). hope this is a little clearer. just updated the OP as well.

Did just that. And when I flash in cwm, I see how the last line says "restoring backup". So did it flash the new one and revert back to the original?

Not tying to flood the thread. But I've tried multiple ways of doing this and it simply does not work the way its described in the op.

If you did the flash baseband before to LEN .it did create a backup of ur baseband LF9 the backup is already there in the root.
Just flash the zip to restore.

For others. You need the base band on the root and the zip point the way to the restore witch is what goes on the root.
The file stays there it will not disappear

By keeping a file on you internal memory, might help keeping track. You see. I have the old script or zip to update plus the new zip to restore. The model backup was my original one created when flashing to LEN which. Sucks.
I just move that to the root
Boot to recovery and falsh restore zip.
Reboot and back to LF9

exact way i did it, lf9 working better with Airave. FINALLY no connectivity issues. LG2 not only causing phone issues, but Airave issues for me also!

What's airwave? Are there any custom kernels for touchwiz based roms? Like freegs3 or blazer?

Mini cell phone tower you plug to your router, connects your phone to Sprint servers via your ISP connection. This should have been posted in Q&A.

Better DL speeds thanks a ton, the phone is heating up a bit but this firmware seems better in my neck of the woods... Only firmware that flashes for me...

Disclaimer:
(1) This is not my work. I've simply collected files from various people/threads in the hopes of saving everyone time and effort. See credits below.
(2) Flashing radios is among the most dangerous thing we can do to our devices. If you flash any of these on your AT&T, T-Mobile, etc., you're very likely to brick your phone. While I have tested all of these files, you flash at your own risk. Again, this is Sprint only.

Instructions

Right now, there are different ways to switch radios based on the version you're looking for. Only 1 file is needed for the LG2 radio. Two files for the LEN and LF9 radios. The consensus thus far appears to be that the LG2 radio is the worst of the bunch. YMMV.

Looking for the LG2 Radio?
Flash this file from CWM recovery:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/ve8ed01rpfr328w/SprintGalaxyS3LG2Modem.zip

*****

Looking for the LF9 Radio?
Step 1:
Put this file at the root of the internal SD card (aka /sdcard), not on your micro SD card:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/s3tubbay374io4i/modem.backup

Step 2:
Flash this file from CWM recovery:
Restore Modem Flashable Zip
http://www.mediafire.com/file/qvt2e9gldl7f8b5/SprintGalaxyS3RestoreModem.zip

*****

Looking for the LEN Radio?
Step 1:
Put this file at the root of the internal SD card (aka /sdcard), not on your micro SD card:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/m6j3bfom2pmhqda/modem.backup

Step 2:
Flash the "Restore Modem" flashable zip file from CWM recovery (see above).

First and foremost, Freeza. He's done all the heavy lifting. The LG2 flashable modem is posted here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743923

klarthur posted the original "restore modem" zip here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28816933#post28816933

Naddict posted his LEN backup here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28872788&postcount=14

I used by own backup of the LF9 modem to share here, though I think the backup was made by Freeza's LG2 upgrade zip.

Lastly... Freeza, if you'd prefer I remove this post, just let me know. If you'd like me to update or change any of the existing files, just holler.
Great post. No way would I ever want you to remove it. :)
