[MODEM][Boot Loader][ODIN] Samsung Galaxy S7 (flat) SM-G930[F|FD|W8] (080518)

Hi Dave, sorry for not having answered sooner.

I'm running Nougat on my s7 g930f I'm in the US and am using Metropcs a subsidiery of Tmobile as my carrier.

I must admit I have no knowledge of this combination, but if I remember correctly, T-Mobile in the US should be compatible with the BTU CSC.

I'm having issues sometimes I won't get calls or sometimes they go right to voice mail and the phone reports a call but never rings. I'm wondering if my boot loader and/or modem are responsible?

Missing calls, or having a ghost call where your phone doesn't pick up on the call, is normally related to your phone not being registered correctly on the cell grid.
This can be due to many factors, poor coverage from your provider, wrongly Access Point information in your CSC, bad or incompatible modem with the underlying cell structure and so forth.

I am using the TMB csc and my boot loader file is:

BL_G930FXXU2DRAG_CL12365438_QB16560149_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5

and the modem is:

CP_G930FXXU2DRAG_CL648265_QB8691889_SIGNED.tar.md5

If these are wrong, i.e. out of date I don't get the numbering system, or country wrong please let me know which to get?

The DRAG is a bit out of date, I would probably take the nougat BL and modem from the April security patch and try with those.

I'm running nougat on my s7 g930f. I've got my csc right, but phone is acting strange. I was wondering what are the latest nougat boot loader and modem files for the s7 g930f?

Is there a reason why you're not running Oreo 8.0 Bootloader & Modem? If you haven't - You might want see if that fixes your issues ?

What does Devcheck app tell you?
What does the see through mark on the back tell you?
Is your phone a genuine W8 or an F model?

Interestingly enough the hardware is basically the same, and it is possible to load interchangeable firmware, but since you are relying on support from the underlying cell network I would never try to change the modem version, and since the boot loader instructions are highly linked to the hardware layout I see it as a gamble to try one that isn't specifically made for your phone type.

You can always download the Full Stock Samsung Firmware from sammobile.com & Flash what you want with Odin 3.13.1 (minimum for Oreo) - Personally I always Flash the Full Stock Unrooted Samsung Firmware - Then TWRP - Root etc ?

This thread is mainly created because some of the developed custom roms requires certain Modem or Boot Loader versions, and it also coveres the desire to update and keep the phone updated to latest Modem and Boot Loader.

The files made available here are extracted from the official Samsung Firmware made available from SamMobile website, it will save you from downloading in access of 2GB of data with average download speed of 15KB.
Mainly it will be firmware specified for the EU market, as I am located here and will be using these firmwares, if you want your specific region included, I would appreciate if you would make sure to make the files available as they become updated for your region, since I don't intend to waste time on something I am not going to be using.

Since I intend not to delete any of the files, it is also essentially a resource with all the different Modem and Boot Loader versions released.

User Guide:
  • Extract latest version of Odin to your computer.
  • Install Samsung Mobile Phone Drivers for Odin to find your device.
  • Boot your phone into download mode, by pressing [Volume down] + [Home] + [Power]
    - Once you reach the Download mode warning screen, press [Volume Up] to continue.
  • Open Odin

    • [1]Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
[2]Place the desired BL file in the [BL] slot.
[3]Place the desired CP file in the [CP] slot.
[4] Go to the Options section and make sure Auto Reboot, Re-Partition and F. reset time are unmarked.
      [5]Push [Start]
    • Once odin reports "Success..." message in the Message box, boot your phone into download mode once again and repeat step 1 - 5 once more.

Some have complained that you shouldn't flash BL and CP without flashing appropriate CSC file, how ever I have never had any issues with only flashing BL and CP.

File versioning:
Some of you might be unaware of how the Samsung versioning of the Boot Loader and Modem is layed out, I will try to give an accurate description of what is what in the versioning.

The filename displays the version as G930FXXU1APDU, the layout of the versioning is as follows:
  • G930F - Identity of the phone supported
  • XXU1A - Identity of location [XX] - European location - Unbranded supplier branded
    [*]P - Year of version (here 2016)
[*]D - Month of version (here 4.th [April])
    [*]U - Compilation number, goes from 1 - 9 and A - Z

Can you please provide access to the AFH folder to me for rest of the modems and bootloaders? Or if you could provide with the latest OREO files for India (INS) region that would be great. I've been getting really bad single on my phone I think I am on the wrong modem. I want to flash the latest. Thanks.

The thread is still actively watched, it's just the fact that for the past two months my 58hour work week has taken its toll on my participation in keeping up with releases.

ok no problem, it's not to hurry you, it was just my consideration.
keep your time... and thanx for your work !

the question about the last N modem continues

@shaggyskunk unfortunately to much peeps have to much time to post meaningless dispensable and space wasting answers. :( my question is still unanswered. maybe a 'yes' or a 'no, version G930FXXU2... is the last one for N' is to high-qualified for xda.
