I would like to flash the last modem, given the bad wifi sensitivity of the current one.
However, I can't make Heimdall for OSX start on El Captain. The front-end tells: failed to start heimdall
Any hints?

Why not use it as the commandline, do you really need the GUI?

If you're in doubt you could try the heimdall tutorial

A new baseband version I9195XXUCPI1 has been released for the i9195

The modem .bin file is modified on 2016-09-26, compared to 2016-07-14 of the I9195XXUCPG1 modem
and the whole Stock ROM is updated to Security Patch Level 2016-09-01.
It's nice that the device is still being in active development.

Anyway, if anyone is interested, you can grab it in .tar archive from here:

That dumps logcat to a text file should work perfectly to capture the link albeit it might take a bit of effort to find it in all the mess since logcat records EVERYTHING that happens on your phone. I'm guess by zero day you mean dirty cow, that would just be the November security update so not likely a new modem no

Yes, I was thinking about dirty cow, was wondering about trying to get my sister who has a stock S4 mini to try it, trouble is she's not technical at all and lives overseas .......... though if there's no modem .... ...

Also since she is on stock it would be better to just get rooted through recovery by flashing neozones twrp through odin because Knox really doesn't want to allow any easy root solution to work

Yes, I've been following that thread too, good news for those who have not been able to root so far. But you misunderstand, I don't want to root my sisters phone. Was thinking to get the rom to upload and the modem for us!
Edit: though the good news is how many versions of CPI1 have been uploaded, so I probably won't have to bother.

Oh well all roms released go to Sam Mobile anyway eventually so there is no need to trouble yourself with that. Also only a very select few providers in select countries still provide updates for the s4 mini so it would be miraculous if your sisters provider in her country still those updates for such an old phone

i updated my modem with the file after checking and it is working fine for me here in the UK

I9195XXUCPI1 with AICP 12.1 rom
