It's a little weird! I flashed it and it says I9195UBUCOH3
Sorry, but there doesn't seem to be any modem (provider/region) resulting in CQA Samsung Letter codes, there only seem to be a firmware compiled with CQA1 kernel version, if you have the location for the firmware with the modem version you're requesting, please let me know and I will make that modem available to you, but at this time I have no clue to where/how it should be found.

New Firmware on https://samsung-firmware.org/model/GT-I9195/

What does XXSC in I9195XXSCQA6 mean?

Can flashing this result in a problem?
I haven't found the time to download it, and probably won't until the weekend.

The XXS tells you it's for European region but is carrier branded.
I have no knowledge of it will be filled with additional stuff or not, the modem files usually are untouched.

The changelist version is the same as CPI1, so I doubt there has been much changed, but I'll make it available once I get it.

Flash NON-HLOS.bin or tar.md5 file?

I saw that a new modem version was released for the Netherlands region (generic/unbranded) on Live Samsung Updates:

I9195XXSCQA7 firmware version for Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE (GT-I9195) from region PHN

I downloaded the full firmware package from Samsung Updates and now I'm wondering if it is OK to just flash the extracted NON-HLOS.bin file with Odin, or is it necessary to convert the file to a tar.md5 file first?

Any help appreciated,
Thanks,
Handz

_omg .. i cant understand u guys .. is this section is for downgrading from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 sorry newbie noob only hahaha need advice :)
Paul, this thread is about updating the baseband (the modems) of the device. This is separate from the OS/rom version.

You could have an old baseband, but still be using the latest LineageOS, or you could have the latest baseband, while using an older rom. The two are independent of each other.

Please, I ask if someone can help me to understand. I don't just ask if a file is good for me or not, I want to understand also if new versions could be suitable for my phone. I'm italian and I'm looking for a new version of modem to upgrade.
1) first of all, to avoid big troubles, is it useful to backup /modem partition from twrp? And, if so, if I want to restore the original /modem is it possible to do this from "restore" option of twrp?
2) on the first post of this topid I read: "XXUC - Identity of location [XXU] - European location (Unbranded)" but the last available is "I9195XXSCQAN". Again on the first post is reported:
EU (Nordic) - Latest Modem: I9195XXSCQAN
So I can imagine XXSC is for nordic EU. But is it compatible with my italian version (now with 7.1.2 resurrection remix)? I think it works, the european gms/umts networks are using all the same technology. Correct?

Hi,
I am looking for the latest modem to update. I am located in Germany and running a DBT version: I9195XXUCNJ4. I guess this is a bit outdated. I can see on Samsung Firmware Site that there is a newer Version: I9195XXSCQAI ( https://samsung-firmware.org/model/GT-I9195/region/DBT/ ).

Anybody got the modem extracted and can post it or can anybody recommend a different modem? I am not sure if it is good or bad, but I would like to stay with the DBT version, cause it is unbranded and free from provider.

One more question. I am running latest Lineage nightly and got TWRP installed. To understand it right, I just need the modem file, update it like explained on first post and done. I am not loosing any SIM functionality or anything???

Thanks for your help and answers!!!

Yes you can restore you modem partition from TWRP after creating a backup.

Let me clear that up for you XX is Europe, Ux is unbranded Sx is vendor specific.
The vendor specific part is mostly additional programs stuffed into the system part of the ROM, and the modem parts seems to be untouched.
How ever it is uncertain if some vendors are tweaking the modem part specifically for their roaming pleasure, which is why some might say certain vendor releases aren't working too well in their region.

I'll take a look at it later tonight.

These modem files are Odin flashable, they will not touch your recovery or system other than the modem partition.

Hi all,

I'm looking for the latest modem file to update my i9195 that's running LOS 14.1. I live in Australia and my present baseband is I9195XXUAMG9. If someone could either suggest which baseband or provide a link that would be great.

TIA

Greg
