Non captivate specific modems tend to have massive voice issues with captivate kernels. If you are on a captivate derived ROM do not.install any HSUPA enabled modem. Only use this if you are running an i9000 based rom/kernel combo.

actually, you dont HAVE to be running an i9000 rom at all. this will work with a captivate rom, however i believe bluetooth is broken then.

sounds like you arent running an i9000 reoriented kernel....

Thanks, quick fix for me to just flash a kernel. Working with Cog 2.3b6 with i9000 kernel. My download speeds here are still horible, but that's just the are my job is at. At home I was getting over 3.0mbps every test. (usually got 1.8-2.2mbps) Thanks for the good work guys!!!

Can people please verify something for me:
1) Does this work with assonance 4.1?
2) will the gingerbread theme still work after I flash this modem?
3) to flash it do I just flash it after assonance?

I NEVER remove my sim card when flashing stock, master clearing, or flashing new roms/kernels/modems, and I've never had a problem. The only time I've ever had problems was when I flashed after removing my sim card.

Also, I haven't noticed any positive changes with GPS since flashing this modem, but my dl and ul speeds appear to have doubled....at least.

1) modems could care less about what rom you are running....you need an appropriate kernel....
2) see number 1. a modem is a modem, it has nothing to do with your rom or themes
3) yes, or alternatively you can drop the modem.bin file into your assonance zip file inside the updates folder overwriting the other one

Im getting incredible battery life with this modem. That and the d/l u/l speeds are the only difference I can see between this and jk4. Ill be sticking with this modem for sure

I was having terrible gps with the jk4 modem. So I decided to flash this. So far its great my dl and ul speeds are just slightly faster. Reception is great (like on jk4) too. The gps is what surprised me, I could barely ever get a lock with jk4 and with this I didnt even clear my gps data I just ran a test and got a lock in ten to fifteen seconds at thirty feet accuracy with nine sats. Better than ive ever had. Will report back on battery.
