Thanks, Simba501

Now a few more questions:

#1 The title of this thread mentions CM7/MIUI - does that mean we shouldn't try it with othe ROMS?

#2 Is a new/different radio included in ROMs or is it something entirely separate?

#3 How do you change radio/modem? And importantly, how do you change back if it doesn't work satisfactorily?

1. I have no idea why it's titled that. I wondered the same thing myself. The modems will work fine on any ROM.

2. Depends on the ROM. Some developers have a radio included in the flash, but you can change it. Other ROMs won't touch the radio and it'll keep whatever radio you have.

3. Flash it through CWM. Ensure that the file is for recovery, most I've seen around here are. Any other format will need another method (Odin, for example, for files compatible with it). To change it back, you follow the same procedure; just track down the radio you want.

Regarding the Title... The Samsung Based and CM7/MIUI ROMs use different updater-scripts to flash the modem. The modems themselves are the same. How the zips are packaged are different though. I renamed the thread title to hopefully make more sense.

Sorry for the confusion.

I tried go see if DG had them since he originally messed with those two leaks but I never beard anything back. Ya I messed with bootloaders once too many time on my Cappy so not messing with them now. Glad to see the cwm versions for the samsung based roms too. I haven't been on a Sammy rom since day 2 so I didn't get around to making them.

Thanks.. I figured we should have both posted. Between your thread and mine hopefully it'll make it easy for folks to snag the modem packaged the way they need. A lot of folks don't know how to do that on their own.

I've haven't been brave enough to mess with those leaked ROMs so far. I need a test mule for that. I'm not sure folks need them anyway. The two we have seem to work well.

This thread seems useful, but because it may not get a lot of action it has the tendency to fall rather quickly due to the high traffic of the roms in this forum.

So, to alleviate that, lets make this thread a sticky...

From a brave soul willing to risk their phone :)

@peaster111...
or any brave soul willing to risk their phone...

There are one or two additional modems that may be obtained for our phones, but there is some risk involved. There have been three leaked versions of the stock firmware so far, UCKJ1 and UCKJ2 in addition to the latest JCKJ4. All three of these were posted by designgears...

Warning: One, and probably both, of these one-click downloaders contain modified secondary bootloaders that prevent the use of the jig to reset the flash counter. After flashing these leaks, it would be necessary to flash back the original secondary bootloader posted by ach1701...
I tried UCKJ2 leak - no good, problems with wifi, etc., and I flashed the original SBL from UCKH7 without any problems
FWIW, in Gr. Boston area, UCKH7 modem worked best (tried KJ4 also) for me...

Thanks Red... Everybody seems to look for modems, but there is not usually a big need for a lot of posting. A sticky should help.

Have a good one...

Did you happen to snag the modem from UCKJ2? Just for posterity sake if anything.

Most folks seems to like the UCKH7 modem better. I used the UCKJ4 modem for awhile and went back to UCKH7... but heck who's to say for sure. We have two to play with. :) It's a start.

No. It was working so bad, that it did not even enter my mind...And I deleted the download of the leak immediately :)

I think it was the rom for uckj2 that made the wifi bad and not the modem. I just pulled out the other two leaks and started testing them out. I had no wifi issues and voice sound sounded good. Maybe give them a shot to see if they work better out of the roms they were in. I have updated them in my CM7 MODEM POST, they are ONLY made for CM7 so if you want to pull them out and add them to your thread go ahead.
