Hello all,

I just flashed Mosaic 9 to my cappy and at first glance, it was GREAT! I did some tooling around right after flashing and while doing so I received a text. I responded, however the sent message failed to send. I reviewed all the settings and nothing seemed wrong. I did some research to see if anyone else had issues, but nothing. So I then decided, maybe some minor glitch was affecting the send and maybe a re-flash of the rom would fix it. No joy. I've also downloaded a secondary text app from marketplace, but that worked the same way. Allows receiving of texts, but no sending.

Can anyone relate to past/present issues like mine? any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Martin
I had that issue with my old sim card, perhaps you need to change yours. Can also be on your provider's part.

Not 100% sure about this one but could also try different modems.

Fixed

Just to add an ending to my question/issue, I've got it fixed. Somehow, when my phone was flashed to Mosaic it wiped the Message centre number. Called AT&T and after 20 minutes, their tech support actually figured it out. Go figure. Input the correct number and BAM, its fixed!!!! :) Thanks to all that provided advice.

Weird. You need the AT&T messaging number in contacts to send text messages?
Did not know that. Hmmm.

Well, flashing a ROM always wipes all contacts, and this is an I9000 based firmware, so the AT&T numbers aren't preinstalled.

So now, just sync all your contacts to your Google account, then next time you flash, your contacts including that number, will be restored as soon as you sign in in your Google account.

Could also save your contacts to your sim card. Those won't be erased.

Right, but Sim cards can be destroyed relatively easily, don't think the Google servers are going down anytime soon. ;)

Lol just messin

that's a great option if let's say, your smartphone goes brain dead, and you can't use anything but your old ass Nokia from '05 until you can afford a new smartphone.

Was indeed quite useful when I bricked my first cappy ;)

Hey guys, I'm running the 2.3.5 Rogers update on my Cappy. I'm not rooted or anything. Looking to install something smoother since this version of 2.3.5 goes narcoleptic daily. >_<

Not sure if it's been asked yet (I skimmed through about 20 of the first pages), but can I just use the Odin M9 file to flash my phone, or do I need to Fuguroot/etc. first, then flash via the phone? Thanks.

The Odin M9 file should get you where you're going. It's a full package, including bootloaders, as I understand it.

It's not that you can only do it once, it's just people get all ancy and scared because it's the only way to brick, bit add long as you don't touch anything during the flash you'll be ok. I personally have flashed boots hundreds of times at this point, my cappy is still alive.

Also, on the m9 package, the boots aren't flashed til the very very last thing, that way if it somehow does become disconnected it's highly likely it will be before that critical couple of seconds that boots are being written. big ole thanks to Mr.haley on that one. He made the Odin package, and he made it perfectly.

Alright, so I successfully installed Mosaic IX on my Cappy yesterday morning. Runs great, but one small issue:

I'm getting the Gingerbread Charging Bug. I charge to 100%, and if I leave it for a while or use it while its plugged in, the battery drops when I unplug. I've calibrated numerous times, and my battery is good, so it's gotta be the bug. I've never had it in my year of being on GB until I flashed Mosaic IX.

Any workaround to the issue (alternate kernel, etc.)?

Thanks.

If it is only dropping a few percent that is normal and built into the system by Samsung.

Negative. It depends on how long its left plugged in or how long its used before being unplugged. If I leave it for a couple hours, it'll drop 5-6%. However, I left it overnight, and it dropped to 85%.

If you're losing 15% overnight, then that's normal...especially on a year old battery. As far as losing 6% in a couple hours, try BetterBatteryStats app. Do a search on XDA for the thread and you can get the app there. They are very helpful to. It'll help you figure out exactly what's eating your battery without using any in the process looks some other apps such as CPU Spy.
