Most updated way to root a 5.0.5.1?

so my brother gave me his old fire stick 1. It has 5.0.5.1. I tried blocking OTA updates by doing adb but in settings my stick ip isnt showing up so im stuck there. I just dont know what to do. I dont want to connect to my network and have amazon auto update the stick. What should i do?
