No problem, must devices now use this efuse system to stop people now from stocking their phones for warranty issues, as far as i am aware there hasn't been a exploit that has bypassed said efuse or to even re-write to it.

Infact i don't think you can re-write back to the efuse as once its blown the resistance is either lowed or increased which is how they can tell if the device has been unlocked or not.

root not working

Hi,

thanks for this tool-
unfortunately rooting doesn't do anything.
Booted with usb-debug - bl already unlocked, only removed the usb debug warning screen.
Device gets recognized, tried both rooting opts (cwm+twrp) - but nothing happened.
No error, but after approx. 3 secs, I get the next select screen.

Any hints?

I'm adding support for ROM flashing, in a few days (more than likely the weekend) I'll rewrite the root part.

Sorry man, didn't work on my XT1040.

It didn't list my device and also advised me to enable debugging (already did)....after these slight errors I proceeded to hit enter.

I navigated to install CWM and root (already rooted but I wanted to get recovery working).

I get the following error;

Pushing Recovery Script

'C:\Users\USERNAME' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'C:\Users\USERNAME' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
'C:\Users\USERNAME' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Running automated recovery commands

Choose yes and enjoy root :)
Press any key to continue . . .

I see it hasn't recognized my device. :(

It's a XT1040 I believe, as it says when I plug it into the PC and the storage comes up. Not really sure but I just bought it.

Hope that helps this project along!

Isn't working for me too.

edit: after some tries it seemed to work. Now I have the recovery, but root access isn't working.

Your login/user name is weird then (or contains a space) and that's why it doesn't detect adb/phone.

Isn't working for me too.

I'm rewriting the root part.

Good news! It works :)
Recovery is available on my phone and I can shut down and boot into CWM. Something I didn't think was working on the Peregrine yet.
Root didn't work though.

So if you move the Toolkit to your C:\ and bypass the Windows username problem.

It detected my phone and I selected install root and CWM.

Did the next instructions to use the volume buttons to get into recovery...got in to CWM fine but get this error with a little dead android and red triangle. Cant find Path E: sdcard or something. sorry it's gone now.

Pushing Recovery Script

cannot stat 'Files/root/superuser.zip': No such file or directory
2 KB/s (46 bytes in 0.018s)

anyways hope that helps! Nice work Somcom. Should I try flashing something?

Oh... Small typo for root.
And flash whatever you like.

I was late here, so I slept after my success.

I was able to install the recovery through the program, thanks. Just moved the folder to C: and worked.

Root didn't work, but I copied the .zip file and installed through the recovery.

Root isn't fully working, some apps don't work (adblocker, for example) but I was able to recover my backups through titanium recovery and that's what I needed most. Even titanium backup works only partially due to the root problem.

Now I'm trying to find a reliable CFW. Thanks!
