I can't find any firmware for this device, anywhere. Maybe it was a mistake to buy it.

My main motivation is getting rid of all GApps. I'd build my own out of someone else's source, but have no idea what kinds of problems there are nor how to fix them.

If only I could put Linux on this phone.

Doesn't 12 prevent rooting, or mandate Gapps, or some other onerous restrictions?

I don't understand how to install this. Has anyone tried it?

Honestly Android 12 as a whole is a much more fluid OS and it works much better than previous Android releases. Don't try to install it without doing a lot of reading first. You're probably just better off doing some reading while you wait on the update over the air, it should be coming any day now.

Yeah, this looks a little fruity to me. Like Chinese intel.

Code:

this is RETUS channel is retail us .. if you backup in the directory you can get all others

this appears to be an official repository, i was able to use the boot.img with magisk and root

voice is being transcribed .. lock screen has giant numbers on it

ext2 sd card can't be mounted (the insanity)

had to ask moto for unlock code. had to wait 12 hours to receive reply, it went to spam folder (all previous did not)

oem unlock was not an option . had to factory reset (using software of the OS itself, i did one with recovery and it did not unlock it....)

but wait .. it didn't unlock right away.. i had to unlock developer settings.. then go into developer settings... then TURN OFF DEVELOPER SETTINGS .. and OEM UNLOCK suddenly was selectable .. I CLICKED IT..

fastboot flash vbmeta --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta.img

i hear not doing this will boot loop, i just did it

and that command can only be entered in fastboot, not fastbootd

this was a 'factory unlocked' phone purchased from target

Hi i had the same problem myself do not worry i have the firmware. After not finding the firmware in a single place spending hours on end. I decided to use the recovery tool and download it. at Motorola Recovery and Smart Assistant . But i understand most people don't like to download software to download a file. As a Gnu/Linux user i had to use the virtual machine to get the software and do all the tedious USB connecting then found out USB doesn't work on Linux on Vbox so i had to download some mod. Anyway i just decided to spend 4 hours uploading the stock ROM to google drive. So i will i will reply to this thread later once its done but for now i just have the boot.img for version TONGA_G_S3RQS32.20_42_10_2_subsidy_DEFAULT_regulatory_DEFAULT_cid50_CFC.xml so i will give you this version of the Moto G Power 2022 ROM

here is the boot.img i will come back later with the full ROM
