Go to Settings, About Phone and where it says Software channel does it say amz or does it exist at all.I am not sure how I could find out. If you let me know I will check for you.
doesn't "fastboot flash" use dd to write over the memory space with the new img file?I wonder if unlocking the bootloader, flashing TWRP, wiping all the internal partitions, and then doing a clean flash of the stock OS would remove that Amazon reference. (I can try it myself, but not until late tomorrow)
I"m just curious but was there a reason for flashing it that way...any advantage?I flashed ATHENE_MPJ24.139-48_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip (I used the flashfile.xml after I took the subsidy_lock_config line out)
I was wondering the same, but I just did a complete flash using the factory rom and it's still showing "Software Channel - amz". At least all the Amazon apps are now history and that's what I mostly flashed it for. Hopefully, when "N" rolls out, we can find a factory rom for that because I'm sure if Amazon pushes it out, it will add back all the Amazon bloat.doesn't "fastboot flash" use dd to write over the memory space with the new img file?

I don't see why it wouldn't. The only thing that changed with the reflash was the absence of Amazon apps. The kernel and baseband are identical before and after.i doubt that an amazon sourced OTA for the device would even install now that we've re-flashed to the stock xt1625 rom, despite the "software channel -amz" detail. do motorola devices autoupdate from ota's or do they have to be approved? I know amazon fire devices are notorious for automatically updating without asking for approval.
If it's the Amazon version of the G4 then you should seriously think about flashing the factory rom on that phone and doing away with the Amazon connection and all those Amazon apps. There is a thread with the links you need. It doesn't requird unlocking or rooting and shouldn't affect the warranty. As for your problem, what you're experiencing makes sense in a weird way.Anyone having issue logging into a different Amazon account than the one that was used to buy the phone?
I bought the phone through my account. I gave the phone to my wife and she tried to log in to Amazon, but it says her username/password is wrong. Double checked and even logged into a PC to be sure.
My Amazon login works for the phone, but none others. I spent two hours on Amazon chat, but they were less than helpful. My favorite was when they told me to uninstall the Amazon app.
I read through that, but it looked like unlocking was required, which would mean getting a code from Motorola, which would in turn mean voiding the warranty. I may just send it back to Amazon and get the non-Amazon version. If it's the Amazon version of the G4 then you should seriously think about flashing the factory rom on that phone and doing away with the Amazon connection and all those Amazon apps. Absolutely not. I did it today and since it's a factory rom you litterly only have to copy and past the flash in a cmd window and wait a few minutes. It takes the most time d/ling the rom because File Factory is so slow. I'm like you and wanted to keep the warranty for a while. Possibly, but that's not that much easier than just flashing the rom.If we delete the files out of the OEM directory. Then flash the system files thru fastboot. Factory reset. That may get rid of all the Amazon lines in the about phone section...just a thought.
