Moto G4 Overheating Issue?

I currently am using an old LG G3 on ATT and am thinking about getting a Moto G4 as my budget is low as of now. I have seen many reviews on the internet saying overheating is a major issue (ui lag, camera lag, etc). I wouldnt consider myself a heavy user either. I was just curious what other users have to say in regards to overheating. Should I buy the G4? (I can get it a Best Buy for $150 and a free $50 gift card) or is the overheating a dealbreaker?

I personally haven't had overheating problems. After reading about possible overheating I went as far as installing a temperature app to monitor my temps. Yesterday I was in 90+ degree temperatures playing golf with the G4 in my pocket using a gps golf app and it never overheated. Reading on the Lenovo/Motorola forums, it appeared to me that a lot of people complaining about overheating had the G4 Plus. One note, I've never really used the phone with Google launcher and have always used Nova Launcher since I've had it.

A lot of people reporting the heat issue seem to be overblowing it. There was an issue with the camera causing the phone to get quite hot but never overheating levels.
Moto update the camera app via the play store so that issue should be gone now. You can check your temps via motorolas own help app or using something like ccleaner. Motos help app built in when updated gives you a ton of information on your phone under the fix section. I suggest taking a look.

A little heat from a phone cranking the cpu is to be expected. Nothing to be alarmed about.

My Moto G4 gets really hot and starts to slow down...

And then I realize that I haven't closed a single application or window in the past 6 hours and I have 25-30% battery left!

In case any new phone buyers are considering this phone, that statement I made above has probably caused some people to buy it right away.
However, be careful of who you buy the phone from, because apparently the phones that come from Amazon can't be (and shouldn't have ever been) bootloader unlockable.

The only parts that got hot for me were the microSD card when copying apps to it, the space above that (the processor?) when playing Pokemon Go and Ingress at the same time, and the battery (which heated up everything) when I plugged the phone into the included turbocharger wall adapter. The camera only got individually hot once when I was installing another kernel.

The fix I found for the phone when it gets unusually hot (lots of open apps) is to carefully place it facedown on a flat glass or metal surface. I have an extra cutting board that I use when charging any device because even iPod nanos get hot when charging sometimes!

I have not yet experienced any overheating issues, even with heavy use of movies and games. The device heated up a bit when first set up, as it was installing all the apps from my old phone's backup, but after that no issues.

I went ahead and picked it up last weekend for an amazing deal at Best Buy. I am very impressed so far. Only time it overheats is if the brightness is set to max with heavy usage or when charging with Turbo Charger. But still no lag or anything.
