It wasn't very clear to me. So, how is it gonna be: we'll receive the 4.4.2, and after, during Q3, they'll release the updates (.3 and .4) OR we'll receive directly the 4.4.4, but we'll receive that later than we expected?

We will receive 4.4.2 with some security patches from new versions. That's it.

I asked David what is the average time for lab testing, this was his reply:
most carriers have a 4 to 6 week cycle but some are as long as 5 months if you can believe that...

If the original update before this security patch delay was originally estimated for a early Q3 (July) release, so I would put my bets on for a September release now.

Things happens but it is taking long times really. I understand that security is good excuse but i am thinking about to jump on a N device.

September... When Moto X+1, Samsung Note 4, Nexus 6 and iPhone 6 are gonna be released! Oh God...

I come back here every once and a while to see if it might be worth plugging in my formerly beloved RAZR i - to no avail. Incredible to realize that NINE months ago when I switched to iPhone we were still wondering when/if we would ever get kitkat update. My iPhone has received five updates in that time and is now solid beyond belief and will be updated regularly for at least the next three years. The Android update model is broken.

No need to be rude. I use both android and iOS devices, and although I prefer android by far, iolinux333 is right: the state of android upgrades is deplorable. I have owned many android devices; all of them without exception had the problems that there were far behind the official latest version of android, and became obsolete far too soon due to manufacturers not wanting to update them. Funnily for all of this, they always use the excuse that the it's the carrier fault due to all the testing required...

Yeah sure, if you have no problems with overpriced hardware and peripherals, also restrictive OS and censored store content, also unsocial company behavior and let's not forget non fixable devices that allows no recycling of any hardware parts or what so ever,

Yes sure, great update model, very nice

True, the state of Android upgrades is awful, but is getting better, the Atrix didn't get any update past the initial one, while we are going to get 4.4 (thats 4 mayor android versions, or 2 if you take into account the fact that our device was on an older version when released), not only that, but now there are more choices besides the nexus (moto x, moto g, and GPE editions phones) also Android one phones (announced today) also we got more updates from the playstore (chrome, youtube, hangouts, home drawer, Music player (does someone remember the one we got last year? awful) google play, google now, android device manager, calendar, maps, etc etc).

    Good for you! :good:
You get the almost same experience in terms of performance.
Minus: sd card slot, and maby more poor battery life. I don't think anybody cares about you decided to throw money at something not even worth the upgrade.

wasn't this thread supposed to be about news for the kitkat update only, and not for you all to whine because you can't wait.

Ok folks, it's time to show some tears of happiness. I found this on a Brazilian Motorola's post about Moto X

    Captura_de_tela_de_2013_11_03_22_11_03.png

    I'll translate it:
    Some guy say:
"I'm waiting the Razr I update to Android 4.2"

    And Motorola Brasil replies:
"Fabrício, keep calm. The Razr I will be updated, but to a version above Jellybean. We will post more informations as soon we have it"

    This surely make my day
