Update PRICE!!!

Haven't you heard? Google makes another operating system geared for laptops and for nettops. It's hot a huge stretch for the next Nexus phone to be able to run Honeycomb, and dual-boot to Chrome OS when plugged into the laptop dock. By definition the phone already has an "always-on" internet connection needed for Chrome OS, so we'd be getting the best of both worlds.
I like your line of thought, that's exactly what I am talking about.
Maybe HTC will come through with this:D

Lets just hope the recently announced pricing of Atrix does not set the standard for future options.

Just announced on Engadget, Motorola Atrix pricing;
http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/03/motorolas-atrix-4g-coming-to-atandt-on-march-6th-for-200-bundle/

Atrix Phone $199.99 w/2yr contract
Laptop Dock $499.99
Multi Media Dock BT keyboard & remote $189.99

Phone & Laptop as a set $499.99

Outch:eek::eek::eek:, I think the actual Atrix version just fell off my wish list:mad:
Waiting for HTC to make their move

Read the rumors about the htc pyramid? Interesting, got me intrigued that's for sure.

But I must say I really wanna try a tegra 2 phone next. The dual core snapdragon just doesn't get me as enticed

So I'm hoping htc comes to the party with a tegra 2, or the atrix's bootloader gets hacked

And honestly its not even the laptop dock feature that's got me most interested in atrix, its the specs, so bring on the custom roms, yay for cyanogen

Thank god motorola is still on drugs. I was really tempted but $500 for the dock is a joke. You can buy a LG Optimus 2x and a notebook for the same price.
It could have been better than the N1 was at it's prime. But with this pricing and the locked bootloader it's really not tempting anymore. I stick with htc even if that means I won't get Tegra2.

The main reason I don't even consider motorola as a candidate for my new phone, is their locked down bootloader attitude. I do also love my HTC nexus one. I really like the atrix, exactly everything I want for my nexus one replacement,.except that its locked down. If motorola were to make a slightly upped UNLOCKED atrix, I'M THERE!!

Although I think I would prefer htc to make the next nexus, taking away the locked bootloader, motorola really is the next best choice

I think a Nexus branded phone would be unlocked if it is to be promoted as a Developers Phone!

you wouldnt want a custom rom on the atrix, because that would most likely break all the neat stuff it can do. root though, yeah.
+1
The beauty of this phone is the integration of Laptop Dock and multimedia dock root is all that would be required.
Who ever produces the next Nexus phone let's hope it's a "New" phone altogether and not a rehash of something existing (Read Samsung Galaxy S and Nexus S). At least HTC had the decency to release the Desire after the Nexus 1 had already been available.

I would prefer HTC for the next Nexus but would welcome any of the major manufacturers as long as the phone is truly ground breaking and not the anti climax the Nexus S was (Oh and not Samsung either!)

I'm pretty sure the dev community here at xda wouldn't have too many dramas integrating the laptop and other features into a custom rom, in fact I reckon the devs here would make a better version of the integration. Like most customs roms, the same but better
