MotoX Exclusive app Motorola Spotlight Player request

Can anybody help a noob out? I'm trying to get an apk download of the new Motorola Spotlight Player app. I can't find it anywhere online. Also, is there a reason it says my device isn't compatible on the play store?

It says its not compatible for your device because its specifically for the Moto X.

I know its exclusively for the motox, but I know people here are pretty good about porting or acquiring apps that are technically not available to our gnex.

Just trying to see if anybody can get the apk for me is all.

Hi there. It's not only the spotlight player apk you need. You need also the avatarpermissionsapp.apk which allows the spotlight player to put an overlay on the screen. Both apk have to be installed as system apps.

These installed successfully on my Droid Mini, but I have no idea how to trigger the Spotlight Player to download content or run.

These installed successfully on my Droid Mini, but I have no idea how to trigger the Spotlight Player to download content or run.

It happens automatically when you're connected to a wlan network and after few minutes to hours after the download is complete you will see a floating hat if everything works.

Yes, permissions apk around 9.04kb.
Avatar apk around 18.59mb.
Permissions have to be 644.
avatarpermissionsapp.apk should be located in /system/app and avatar.apk should be located in /system/priv-app/ if available.

Man, I really wanted this to run on my Nexus 7 and Asus TF700. I tried by putting it into my system apps on the N7 but wouldn't install. :crying:

Trying on my Moto Droid Maxx

Just installed on my Moto Droid Maxx XT1080 and so far so good. After downloading and installing (you have to enable "Unknown sources" to install of course. And also, it is only a Widget, not an App, so it is only found in the Widget section of the Add Drawer.
I was able to launch it successfully and am now just waiting for it to download.

My wife got the MotoX and I got the Droid Maxx. Overall I've been very satisfied with my decision since I was considering the MotoX too. Once she started talking about this cool "augmented reality\immersive movies" she was getting I was totally impressed and had to find how to get it on my phone! I had already been able to install the Nexus 4 camera app the same way so I could take PhotoPhere pictures so figured I could do the same with this one!

I'll update as soon as I get confirmation!

EDIT: turned out, it's the avatar.apk. didn't install on my nexus4. hope someone cracks it open. i watched the session of it on IO14. IMPRESSIVE !

I managed to install it on my S4 but it says " Motorola spotlight player
Has stopped working" every time i restart my phone.
To install it i had to copy 2 archives into system/app and system/priv-app
Then i tried adding a permission archives called "com.motorola.avatar" in the system/etc/permissions folder... but it didnt work

Any expert can tell us why does this app wont work in non moto x phones?
I couldnt find anything in google, its just an app there should be a way to crack it
