Moving around the UI is fairly laggy

You can't expect Sony to change Google's apps. Doing a cold start of Maps always has a slightly lower frame rate on any device.

I tried it 10 times opening and closing. On the n4 is perfectly smooth so the ONLY conclusions are
1) Res is too high for the S4
2) Sonys Rom is not optimized enough

I still believe that S4 Pro is not strong enough to run flawlessly on a full HD resolution with OEM launcher.
Not sure with a sightly upgraded S600, but still better.

I dont think so, the S4 pro is more than capable of handling a 1080 p screen. It's just bad optimization. The droid DNA/butterfly is fairly fast and uses the same SoC.

AW: Moving around the UI is fairly laggy

Can't confirm. Perfectly smooth. Must be something specific to your setup. Background load maybe. Dunno.

One "lag" which is reproduceable is the Sony/Accuweather weather widget. When you navigate to a screen where the widgets sits and it's updating, the launcher will freeze until the widget updated. It only take a splitsecond and only happens when the widgets updates (so every couple hours) but that so far is the only "lag" or rather freeze I could notice so far.

Yep the phone in general is superb but it's just not as smooth an experience as an N4.

Probably just Sony's input has caused that.

Then again the N4 doesn't have that screen nor a decent camera :D

The optimus g is the only other phone that is comparable to the nexus 4 in terms of smoothness.

I have noticed something of a tiny lag the first time you've touched if after it's been asleep for a bit, but after that it's fine.

assuming that if I moved to nova launcher all would be good again, btu I don't completely hate the Sony launcher quite yet.

totally agree! I'm coming from a rooted Galaxy S 2 with Apex Launcher Pro.
The only time I had a lag was after setting up the Xperia Z for the very first time.
I hope mine it's instant too lol

Compared the xz with my gs3 in carphone warehouse yesterday and it was definitely laggier. The launcher probably isn't optimised. What was most surprising was that Web browsing was much much slower. Loading the full version of the verge took forever and scrolling was extremely slow. I was really surprised since the s4 pro is supposed to be faster. Either the s4 pro can't handle 1080p rendering or Sony has some work to do.

Something is wrong with that picture mate. I have Galaxy SIII and Xperia Z, and they're very comparative in terms of page rendering, Xperia Z being faster or equal. In page scrolling Xperia is noticable smother.
