Something is wrong with that picture mate. I have Galaxy SIII and Xperia Z, and they're very comparative in terms of page rendering, Xperia Z being faster or equal. In page scrolling Xperia is noticable smother.

Well I'm not making it up if that's what you mean. Maybe it was pre release software but I was very disappointed since I was seriously considering it as an upgrade.

I still believe that S4 Pro is not strong enough to run flawlessly on a full HD resolution with OEM launcher.
Not sure with a sightly upgraded S600, but still better.
I can assure S4 Pro run perfectly fine and smooth in Full HD. I had try HTC Butterfly before, it run perfectly smooth and far better than my S III.

Just my 2 cents worth;
Imo, the lag may be due to background google processes /apps like gmaps, gmail, google jellybean search app and chrome browser. Ppl finding lag may try to disable these known system hog apps and then check for lag, if any...

I've not seen any lag so I'll consider myself lucky. BUT.

If you want to speed up the phone ui you can go onto dev options and decrease the animation scales to 0.5. This should speed up the Ui

I'd be interested to see if see if helps anyone.

Compared the xz with my gs3 in carphone warehouse yesterday and it was definitely laggier. The launcher probably isn't optimised. What was most surprising was that Web browsing was much much slower. Loading the full version of the verge took forever and scrolling was extremely slow. I was really surprised since the s4 pro is supposed to be faster. Either the s4 pro can't handle 1080p rendering or Sony has some work to do.

Were both phones on the same network?
One thing that makes browsing on the Z slightly less fast is Chrome. It's simply not as fast as the stock browser is on most devices. With the stock browser every manufacturer can apply their set of modifications to really speed things up, Chrome is made to work on all devices and is slower because of that.

Ok my i dont mean lag as in the time it takes to open up apps. but the TRANSITION ANIMATION when OPENING APPS. It STUTTERS and DROP FRAMES. Try opening chrome and closing it 10 times IT WILL LAG!

No, I am suggesting that something is wrong, XZ is normally behaving better. You should look in to it to find a reason for this, and share with us, I for one would like very much to know what is going on.

The only phone less laggy than this one is the Nexus 4.
True but the nexus 4 is far less laggy.

I expected the Xperia Z to at least match it or come close... I hope it improves as I really like the XZ but hate lag with a passion.
Also I dislike the notification bar shortcuts that can't be customised... Come on Sony, step your game up

Can anyone with a leggy phone post a movie showing this. I'm unable to get it on my phone or maybe I fail to notice it. I would like to know which one it is :)

The xz was on the in-store Wifi and my gs3 was on hspa+
Maybe there was something wrong with their wifi

Both phones were running chrome for an apples to apples comparison but I forgot to check the version on the xz so it could have been an older, slower version. Probably was the. Are because the scrolling was an order of magnitude slower I'm not even kidding

how about camera? :)
I am not the best guy to answer this, as I dont like phone cameras very much and don't have very much experience, and I didn't test them side by side. From my experience both phones in good lighting conditions do good enough pictures for usage on mobile devices, XZ maybe have a bit more natural colour capture. If the light is poor or I need pictures for printing, result is not good enugh on both phones, for me OFC. On the negative side, XZ needs a lot of direct light to capture good pictures in macro mode, while SIII doesn't. On positive side for XZ due more memory or better system optimization camera stay on the same acceptable level of laginess even after sveral hours of multitasking with focus on video and image capture while SIII starts to lag horrible to the point of not beeing usable until phone restart. If you have idea what would you like to see as direct comparison and in no hurry, write me and I will see if I can help.

thanks for replying. yes i have a request. try taking picture in dark room with light enough that u can see things around, iphone is brilliant in taking pictures in dark so trying to see how good this sensor is. also is there night vision(not exactly night vision just a low light option)? there was night vision on galaxy s3 and it was great wondering if this phone has it. also i understand the pictures arent good in dark so do u mean noisy?
thanks :)
