MPD - PAYG on Vodafone unlocked?

Does anyone know if the mobilephonesdirect vodafone payg one is unlocked or not and if contains any network branding, heard not but not sure?

can't confirm until wednesday when i get mine but from what I heard all MPD are unlocked

just spoke to MPD and they said the PAYG ones are LOCKED and contain carrier branding, not such a great deal if true might by sim free
