Introducing MROM-d2spr. Custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S III (Sprint)

Free Yourself and Feel the Difference

This is my attempt to build a stable, complete, and fully functional custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S III completely built from source code; MROM-d2spr is built on top of Cyanogen ROM latest 4.2.2 (cm-10.1) source code and branched kernel. I recompiled all components to guarantee maximum efficiency and performance. Along the way, I realized that I needed things to work different for the d2spr, so I also made some changes. If you like my work, consider a donation to my cause.

BUILT FROM SOURCE PROOF https://github.com/MROM. Every developer should provide proof that he is building from source.

MROM-d2spr is entirely build from source. You will see the difference when you run it. Just to list a few features:
  • Entire ROM and Kernel are compiled and optimized with Linaro toolchain 4.7
  • Superior Performance. (User benchmarks have reported excellent performance)
  • Latest Kernel 3.4.x (http://www.kernel.org)
  • Fast Boot time
  • Multi-User Enabled
  • Excellent battery life
  • Contains all the most common tweaks
  • QuickPic gallery application

While I tried to maintain the main core small, size is not the main focus.

Few user comments:
Oleschuldad: this has been much more reliable then the other 4.2.2 roms I've flashed, no random reboots, no lags, or a2dp problems....
CQCmaster: The best Rom in terms of performance and battery life and stability.
JoeSchmoe22: I am happy to report that the BATTERY LIFE IS AMAZING!!! I am a heavy user and now my phone lasts all day! Also, the Rom is totally stable!
draco259: Maybe you need to add some bugs to get more comments
1heffer: This thing is rock solid, simple, beautiful, and FAST.
jimmur: I have tried a number of different ROM's and this one is the absolute best.

Suggestions are always welcome!!! After all, this is your ROM and I will try to include requested features when possible.

Is the home button bug present in this ROM?

How is this running? I've been using liquid smooth for a few weeks and it is solid with a few bugs. I'm getting the itch to flash, and this may be my next one.

Re: [ROM] MROM-d2spr [4.2.2][CM10.1][3.0.66] build:20130301

Flashed this last night and so far, it is running pretty smoothly. One thing that doesn't work is the MROM updater app - it says no compatible ROMs for my device or something like that. Other than that, it's pretty much the same thing you'd see on the CM nightlies...

Requests would be to add custom carrier label (I currently just copy a custom eri.xml to change it so it's not a big deal) and also bake in the new hdr camera from CM so that I don't have to do it manually...

Other things to note -

Works great with ktoon's latest kernel (flash ROM, then kernel, then gapps - no need to reboot in between cuz the gapps fix permissions automatically and the keyboard issue gets fixed).

For some reason, both SuperSU and Superuser are included... Not sure why.

The stock theme is included so you can just switch to it after booting up (or download a different one if you don't like the two included).

That's about it for now. I will update again after testing for the day!

If you want supersu only just flash su zip after rom at end and you'll just have supersu. Having both won't mess anything up , I've used roms w both on my tabs and all was cool.. I always flash rom n apps then wipe caches n flash kernel then setup then run fix permissions n reboot... Been doing that for almost 3 yrs now. This rom looks really cool op. Always nice to see new things. :)

Not sure you understood my comments there dude.

The ROM has both SuperSU and Superuser baked in to it by default. I wasn't saying that it was causing an issue or asking how to fix it. I was merely pointing out the observation. Of course you can make one or the other the default...

And as for my other comment, the install instructions in the OP state to install the ROM, reboot, then reboot back into recovery and install the gapps. And I was pointing out that this isn't necessary because installing the gapps will fix permissions automatically and there won't be any FC issues...

Thanks for the input anyway though! I'm sure it'll help others out. I've been rooting android devices since the beta days long ago. Hell, been an xda member for 7 years already. Lol. Just don't post much is all...
