i've been wanting to assist a dev get to the bottom of the issue for the past 3 months...would love to help you as much as possible. Let's communicate via gchat. i'm at: [email protected]

Another persistent issue that I have found with AOSP ROM's is the camera. When I focus the camera, the image on the screen (what the camera is pointing at) begins to lag and the begins to move in frames. so when i move the camera from point A to point B, the screen on the phone lags and images are moving in frames. When I use Instagram's camera and use the focus function, nothing happens. Anyone know the root of this issue? Could I use the new 3/1 gapps on this ROM mmontuori?
Ok for communicate over to gtalk

This rom uses theunkwn0wn JB camera. That could also be related to the issue, I don't think he released a 4.2.2 version yet... I did not know the existence of the new gapps, but the file seams a lot smaller 100M less in size, needs further investigation....

I would just like to say thank you for this rom and the support you are giving also. Too many times I see developers have some snappy comebacks for questions, and feel they are putting people in their places just because they may have missed an answer while searching or are completely new. It's refreshing to have you over here. I've been trying to stay on stock this past week after I got a new GS3 and gave my wife old one. (She was whining about wanting my white one........ Gggrrrrr.......), but you sir are a breathe of fresh air, and I think I'll give yours ago and go back to AOSP because I like your style, slick. ;)

Thank you jayharper08... I appreciate your kind words, if there is one thing you get from me, it's support, I don't leave the user stranded somewhere, if I don't know the answer, I will always say, let's find out together...

Funny, my wife is starting to wine about mine now... I feel your pain... she says: I really like the way it looks...

Re: [ROM] MROM-d2spr [4.2.2][CM10.1][3.0.66] build:20130301

Funny little bug I found: when using the aosp gallery, videos show up with a purpleish tint in the preview image. Plays normally and without any issues, just something I noticed. I did disable QuickPic out of preference for aosp.

Great rom

Yes, the thumbnail generation, that is the case for videos shot with touch wiz camera, if you take one now, the thumbnail should display correctly...

Thanks for the feedback... this Home button only shows up under certain conditions, like long sleep and sudden wake up. You mention battery life, what exactly are you running? I know this is a delicate subject, but have you tried to see if one of your application is using more battery than it should? Normally I troubleshoot this type of problems with System Tuner Pro, and record things for a while to see which application or part of the OS is using excessive battery...
Like I said, I can't blame this ROM for my battery troubles, but it does seem to be AOSP related (for me). My battery dies twice as quickly as TW. I have been using various tools to try and narrow it down. The stock "Battery" app always shows Screen as the main culprit; for example, taking 50% of the battery with 20 mins on-time over 4 hours... That can't be right. BetterBatteryStats doesn't give me any wakelocks that look out of place.

My theory (based on anecdotal evidence and a test group of one) is that AOSP isn't treating signal loss or changes correctly. It's most noticeable when the screen is on. As another example, if I'm on the subway with on-and-off service for 15 minutes, the battery will drop about 1% per minute and the phone gets hot to the touch.

Any reason why after a reboot my phone is super smooth and runs nice but later in the day after about 10 hours or so of either heavy or light use, the phone seems to get choppier with animations and is not as fluid?

Strange. By chance do you use Google Now much? I find when I turn it on, I can barely make it through the day on one charge, but when I turn it off I can practically make it through two days...

You might be subject to a bug affecting all SGS3 on CM-10.1, which has just been corrected, I am producing new builds as I am writing this message. If everything goes OK, builds should be available tomorrow...

Oh ok. I did run in to the home button bug yesterday and wasn't sure what was happening. I just did a reboot and it was gravy. Battery life is fantastic. Really great rom. The only thing that sticks out is that the screen doesn't show a picture with flash before it is taken. It just appears dim. The pictures come out good though. Could just be user error.

The home button bug has been hopefully addressed in the next build. Thanks for providing information about the camera flash. I am currently using theunkn0wn camera. I will let him know about this issue...

The home button thing didn't bug me. I'm not used to hitting the screen to focus first I guess. I assume that was my issue with the camera. It's working fine, it was user error.

Though a more comprehensive features list would be handy. What really separates this from the rest of the 10.1 ROMs (other than a supportive dev)? Right now I'm pretty happy with LiquidSmooth, but supporting a really engaged dev is always a preference.

So I love the ROM! Solid, stable, and functional. Wayyyyyy more functional than most! My only issue, I fixed, is the camera for FFC. I just installed another gallery2.apk from Aospa, any aosp gallery works.

So now that that problem is gone, profiting from such awesomeness! Also, as for battery, battery life of stock kernel is ehhhh. So I made a quick pick in kernels. ;) its not on xda and it flows pretty well ^_^

So, this is weird. After using this ROM for the last week, yesterday my phone lost all data and cell service. I wasn't messing with anything. Still pretty much stock. I tried flashing back to MB1, but still nothing. I had to use ##72786# to reset my phone. Then everything worked. This actually happened to me a while back on a different AOSP ROM, so it's definitely not caused by this one specifically. Maybe it's related to the poor service and battery life that I've been having. Any ideas?

My experience with video recording volume is OK... maybe someone else can add to this... I find creating ROMs pretty funny and rewarding, no need to bash anyone for a question...

Thanks... can you please explain the meaning of a more comprehensive feature list? I have a changelog, more info in it maybe?

Can you please explain the problem you are getting with the camera? MROM uses an alternative camera from "theunkn0wn".

Regarding features: I am always open for suggestions... after all, this is your ROM... I make things for you...

I could understand loosing cell service in very poor reception area, which causes excessive battery use.

What exactly do you mean for loss of data? Please elaborate a little on that...

I mean my data and cell service stopped working completely. There was nothing. I was in a place with decent (for Sprint) coverage as well.

Really it comes down to explaining why this ROM might be better, or a different experience than other ROMs. What "common tweaks" are included. What have you decided not to include because you felt it caused issues? What apps have you stripped? What have you added? Why do you say the battery life is great? Everyone says that, but what makes yours different? If it's really just a perfectly executed CM10.1 rebuild then emphasize that a little more.

That's just my opinion. It's almost like I'm telling you to "sell it" which seems kinda lame now that I think about it. Still, I don't see anything in the OP that really jumps out at me to push me to install it over other ROMs in this forum.

A detailed change log is always good as well. One that makes sense to non-devs.

Like I said though...just opinion. I'm a noob and you've been here for a few years. I tend to think you probably know what you are doing. Just throwing my 2 cents in. :)
