how are you getting to edl mode? i tried adb reboot edl and all i get is black screen
also installed drivers rebooted to edl and see com and qualcom driver in device manager but msm is not detecting my phone

Hold both volume buttons while plugging in the phone, but my phone would only stay in EDL for approximately 30 seconds unless MSM was started. So have MSM ready.

Europe and India actually get their official ROMs faster than Global variants (AA)
but yes, if you have a T-mobile version switching to AA or EU ROM will be best, to bypass the annoying Tmo restrictions.

Have you tried to use the MSM tool with the china variant? I have the LE2120 but I am so sad that there isn't a version to rely on if my phone got bricked. Does anyone know if I can use another version like the Indian version perhaps to try and unbrick my phone if this ever happens?

Not brick your phone. But you should use cable authority of OnePlus. Suggest using cable A to C
