How do I disable "phone method"? I'm a bit i doubt as to what this means. Could you be more specific?
Lol, I mis-typed and said "pone method", I meant "one method", it should have read :

"Yeah, disable one method and see if the other works and vice versa."

Ok. Just to be a bit more precise. The setting I'm having problems with is "shutdown delay when acc off". I can set this from 30 sec. to 60 min. Regardless of what I choose, the Headunit turns off screen and Bluetooth when the cars ignition is turned off. Still I can see, that there is still power to external devices through USB, so the unit has actually not shut down.

My expectation would be that the unit stayed on for the duration chosen in the setting "shutdown delay when acc off".

This seems higly non intuitive to me. Is this behaviour to be expected, or am I missing something?

The shut down delay setting turns the screen off giving the illusion the device is off, but its actually still powered for as long as youve set the timer for.

Thankyou :) At least, I know that the behaviour is to be expected.

That being said, I still do not understand this behaviour, at all. It seems this is standard behaviour for all these types of units, but from a userexperience point of view, it seems downright stupid. Why does the unit turn off the screen, break the bluetooth connection, so music stops, but still stays on???

The biggest anopyance, I think is when you stop the car someplace to wait for someone or something. As soon as you stop the car, the unit turns off the screen and breaks the bluetooth connection. Then you have to hit the cars startbutton connect bluetooth again, start the player, and after 1-2 minutes, the car turns the ignition off automatically, and then you can start over.

The behaviour I would expect is:
You start the car = the Unit turns on.
You stop the car = The Unitwaits for a while (ex 5-10 minutes) and then turns off.
Alternatively, the Unit could be turned on and off when you start/lock the car.

Are there any ways to achieve this using the Headunits software?

I think it could be done with a relay such as this, https://www.itead.cc/wiki/12V_DELAY_TIMER_SWITCH_30_SECONDS_SUPPLY_MODULE except it has to have a longer delay.

I would prefer to have the headunit do this through software though. Is this possible or perhaps something similar?

It does this so that you can go back to the car after having turned it off and locked it and restart without the unit having to boot up - its there immediately. Obviously leaving the screen on would attract thieves and draw more power.

Later MCU versions have a setting that will leave it like this all the time

But if you set it to 30sec then it will act as you desire and furthermore you can stop the engine and then turn the key to ignition on (without starting the engine) within those 30secs and use the unit while youre waiting.

This feature is very popular and these units did not come with it initially, when it became available lots and lots of people wanted it and wanted MCUs with it, youre the first I ve heard who dislikes it, but as I ve said you can turn it off.

Thanks for the explanation. It makes sence. :)

I think the reason I dislike it is because I have a Renault Clio IV with keylessGO entry, so I cant just turn the key to "Ignition on" I have to press the startbutton, without pressing the clutch, that whould be like turning the key to ignition, but on a keylessGo system this only lasts about 1-2 minutes. So there is no way to keep the car in that state.

Since everybody else sees it as a positive feature, I'm thinking I'll have to go the hardware way with some kind of delayed relay, but you are right about the issue with the unit being on, when leaving the car.

I'll have to think a bit more about it. But thank you very much for clearing it up. Now I know it's supposed to work like that:)

A friend has a Megane with keyless go but he can use his unit without the engine running, at least for a limited amount of time (most modern cars have time limit when it comes to using the ICE with the engine off).

Yes. Mine too, but it is only like 1-2 minutes, so it is a bit useless for the waiting scenario, but I think the delayed relay mod would work. It would be like the capacitor mod, from the wiki linked in your signature :)

No idea what your unit it, you ll have to find out first, try looking in the Android headunits general forum or googling it, no one in this forum can help cos its for totally different types of units.
