The 3.7s have proven to run a bit better on ics, I'm trying to get my hands on one.

The battery isn't using power. It's providing power. The number shows how much power is available on a full charge under nominal conditions. The larger the number, the more power the battery can provide.

I run two batteries as well using an external lithium ion charger.. the on that originaly came with my phone was the 3.8 it gives terrible battery life.. I actually took it to Verizon and asked to switch it out for a 3.7 as the person I talked to knew about the problems with tje 3.8 he switched it right out no problem, no paper work, I was in The store all of 1min on a Friday afternoon mind you.. from what I've read the 3.8 doesn't sync properly with ICS so the life, and drain were significantly worse than that of the 3.7.. just my two cents..

And not to bite on ya.. but to be more precise the 3.8 or .7 is the amounts of volts the battery outputs as it is a lith-ion not a cell battery it puts out a constant 3.x until full discharge.. the 1620mAh is the amount of total energy the battery can hold at a full charge.

This answer describes the mAh but doesnt help when talking about the VDC and Whr. Both batteries are 1620mAh but one battery has a VDC and Whr of 3.8 and 6.15 respectively. The second battery clocks in at 3.7 and 5.99 respectively.
