Im new on this forum and couldent post in developers section cuz no 10 posts jet , I just bought the phone a day ago and wanted to root it , but wanted to have a back up of the kernel that comed in phone , but then when i wanted to download my kernel default version from dome developer pousts i couldt find mine nowhere :/ . So here is what my Setings - about say : Baseband ver. I9100XXKD9 Kernel version 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKD9-CL138661se infra S EP - 41 #2 And build number Gingerbread.XXKD9 . I cant nowhere see the XXKD9 kernel version ^^ Wtf is that and the things that worryes me the moust is that when conecting to KIES , Clicking on GT-I9100 under the Firmware information it say " This version of device cannot be updated " . Whats going on pls if some developer knows ?

Sorry for bold i kinda like it , sorry for not being clear my english is bad . I am from Montenegro , here the phone is not avalible for sell , but i got it from some conections . I got 2 of them (one for my sister) and one for me . The phone is unlocked . But the thing is that i dont know where they got the phone from for me . And now i was looking i developers to root it and get power user thing . For thet u need to change kernel in ur phone . And then the the worryes start , becouse on the site are many kernels default beckup but i nowhere on any site cant find mine with the XXKD9 . So if i understod , Every country have a diferent code ? I would like to know where is my from , and when i conect to Kies why it say this device cant be updated ? Is there a way to backup all phone so if i get something wrong i can back it up back again to default kernel . And 1 more question , i also saw on the site kernel ke1 and k2 , Like k1 is older k2 newer , whats the diference betwene them , can i mby put any kernel on my phone or that will **** it up ? I was thinking like wtf is that code in my phone and i cant find it nowhere else , mby i have some fake "things" in it ^^ Thats me being stopid . . . Sorry for stopid questions but im first time on samsung and android , had a nokia n900 before done all the things on it , but this is all diferent now

Find IMEI in Settings > About phone > Status.

Which is lucky because your question had nothing to do in the development section since you didn't actually develop anything.
As for your problem, I'd say update to KE1 via ODIN, and you'll be able to get the default KE1 kernel from here, but I'm kinda new on the SGS2 too so don't take my word for it and wait for more advice ^^

I didnt wanted to post i dev. cuz i developed something , i wanted po post a repley in developer section where they talk about root and ask what firmware is in mine phone cuz its rly strange and didnt know what back up kernel to use leater . And this is rly possible that the phone is a store demo , they got it from samsung if i understod there were just 2-3 of them and they were first phones in this country , the phone is working perfectly and everything , but that was strenge when i wanted to see whats my kernel and leater to back it up . So can i update in it the ke2 mby or something like that or that will **** up my phone ? I cant find nowhere this kernel in my phone , is there some way i can get it out from phone for beckup and if something go wrong i put it back again ? And that what i wanted to ask in first place , but i didnt know how to ask it actually :/ sorry again

Is it possible to compare it HARDWARE-WISE to SGS2 that already has the latest software on it?

Seem that it was polish , well i updated to xeu Ke7 . The uk firmware . Now its all ok , on that code with imei i cant select anything now there is only xeu . So now i have the newest firmware and rooted all fine . Thank all for answering .
