Xoom Upgrade Help

I have just acquired a Motorola Xoom MX604. It was a friends that did not use it or want anymore. I am an Android newbie. It is running Android 3.0.1 . Can someone please help me understand how to upgrade the OS to the newest available for this device.
Thanks.

Yea, I think so.

Still compiling though, I do not know why it takes so much time to compile.

I will try this AOSP first, then a lesser version. Depending on the results.

I have a rom, I have a kernel. Uhn! Bootloop.

I formatted the laptop and installed Ubuntu 14.04 in the hard drive instead of the virtualbox image.
I hope it take less to compile. The rom installed but has bootloop, so the kernel is at fault. I took the prebuilt kernel and of course is not optimized. I have to compile it well with the ElementalX kernel.

Hope you can understand me. Have patience. :)

I got the rom "working". It is AOSP Kitkat 4.4.2 with ElementalX Kernel.
But it has random reboots, and many things related to video etc do not work.
Need some days of testing, but the hardest part I think is done already.
I need to check many things, like vendor files and libraries.

I can put the link for the most daring to try, but as I tell you is a beta. You choose if you want to see it.

No, not including fixes for KRACK... WPA2 keys and all that right? I do not know if that will be easy or not to do.

I have to check first if the compilation for AOSP Lollipop works, and then I will tell you all what should I do next.
I did 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 AOSP Roms and they work. 4.4.4. works better, because at least play store works and has less reboots. They both have random reboots and when you push many keys at the same time doing the looney, they reboot too.

I need this weekend to check my path in this development.

Any chance you could get a Stingray CDMA going? There's basically nothing for that model anymore and mines remained soft-bricked for quite a while.

@Manuellama I have Wingray that I just want to have on the coffee table for reading news, so I don't need codecs I think. Anyway if you get a 6.0 ROM that boots and is serviceable I'd be glad to test and provide some insight if I can.

Ok, I will start tonight with Marshmallow. I will compile it again tonight since i have optical fiber now and I can download everything in no time.
I will tell you tomorrow what I could compile from Schischu's sources and the repos I have.
I need to check which manifest worked, but it is ok. It will take me some hours to check but nothing more.
(I have a version from Marshmallow already compiled, but I do not remember if it works, I think it does since the last working revision from Schischu was the revision 17)
If you want to try it, check it. You need TWRP recovery

I could try Stingray Kit Kat version too... not sure if it will work since I do not have stingray xoom.
But I can try to compile it if you want me to, Xenosis.

Manuellama Just got it so I'll have to get it prepped. Been awhile since my last Xoom, do I need this Bigpart partitioning done for the size of these times now?

Thanks for the hard work
