Hi bought this samsung note 8 when it came first in the market, my note 8 still intact with original transparent cover front and back and hardly used. All a sudden it stopped working as battery was dying due the old ageing. i removed the battery and trying to connect directly to power but it doesnt turn on. does it need battery to turn on? i noticed some devices can be used if you connect them directly to power source. Why is it not getting on? never drop, never spill water, always packed in box.

Maybe you found a solution but I'm just wondering if you tried pressing and holding the power button before you took the battery out? My Note 8.0 has started to have what sounds like the same problem although maybe your Note 8 is further along in the problem than mine is. I'll pick the device up and the screen won't turn on. Plugging it in makes no difference. The first time it happened I started freaking out because I don't have the money to replace my tablet and I use it a lot. I'm so glad I thought to press and hold the power button.
Honestly I just pressed it until the device turned on. I've had to do that a couple of times since. It sounds like your Note 8's battery hardly got used and these batteries don't do well when they just sit, from what I've read. They should be charged and depleted once a month or something like that. I can't remember where I read that but I think it was in more than one place and one of them may have been something written by ZeroLemon.
I hope this is helpful if you haven't already thrown the device away or solved the problem.

You're the second person to try that this year! Don't do It, the device needs a good battery. I got a few new Samsung batteries last year and for $15.00 shipped was a great deal.
