here
Ive been happy xoom user for over 2 years now and my xoom almost died on my hands but happily still use it! :)

First, put sdcard into 3G slot and had some problems removing it but luckly 3G works :)
then power button issue, at first the clicking sound was gone, later button just stoped responding, I really thought it was end of xoom days so I even started looking for new tablet, liked the samsung note 10, but since managed to fix the button I am really happy with it.

The best thing here is a dev support as I cant imagine using stock xoom for so long without updates and with stock cpu.

Is it heavy? Put it in a leather case and carry like a book and that does the trick.

Its a great device with great support, just one thing missing tho, multiwindows like samsung family has would let me keep that device for loong

Good Luck!

I am on EOS4 build184on my WiFi Xoom and its running perfectly. I'm overclocked to 1600Mhz and its running smooth and fast. JB 4.2.1 is not meant to run on this old processor but Team EOS has managed to make my Xoom run like the best of tablets. I do have to mention the fact that I am using a 3rd party keyboard and Nova launcher to get past some of the shortcomings of this old hardware but I'm satisfied with it.
I cant see why xoom wouldnt run 4.2.1. Its just that google does not want to support it so we go and buy n10 instead. Its just pure marketing, nothing to do with the hardware. Thanks to team eos you can see that it can run 4.2.1 without any problem

I agree. If Google really wants to take over the world they should keep their operating system loyal to the devices that helped to get them started. Of course Android will, eventually, have to outgrow the old devices as hardware evolves...But in 1 or 2 generations?

I've just rooted my GEDified Xoom (mz604) and now running Dreamcwli's AOSP 4.2.2, which I must say is very stable indeed. The same dev has also released an experimental 4.3 build which also looks promising. So hopefully we can squeeze a bit more life out of this device yet.

Factory image as in the very first version of Android on the XOOM (Honeycomb), or a factory image of 4.1.2?

Can you charge the tablet via the A/C adapter? For the Honeycomb image, either Googling it will bring it up, or you may be able to find it on Motorola's website.

I don't have the AC adapter that was packaged with it... I do however have a Motorola AC adapter from something else... while it does seem to charge it (white light at bottom comes on) after it charges so long it attempts to boot itself and because there's no OS, it just stays at a black screen... I can boot into bootstrap/safe strap tho

That won't charge it. You need the charger. Can probably get on eBay. They come with dock and may be cheaper that way.

And yeah a lot of the images are gone. Motorola has removed all traces it seems. Look for sbf file and use rsd lite instead.

Is there possibly any thing I can do from bootstrap?

What you mean bootstrap? Recovery?

You need to be in fastboot mode in order to fastboot flash images to your device. But those images are getting harder to find. Do you have stock images to flash?

yes bootstrap recovery... its the only one I managed to get installed before I messed the thing up... as far as I can tell the mz617 boot loader is not unlockable... I've followed all directions I could in order to unlock it to no avail...

Thank you for the link but I could not find my model on there... I'm gonna try to search a little better when I get a chance... mine is the mz617

Because those images are for the Xoom. mz617 is Xoom 2/ Xyboard. I don't believe that was ever unlockable so I doubt you will find official Motorola images anywhere.

I was looking for Xoom images. The other guy was looking for Xoom2 images, which you are right, don't exist.

Im still actively using my Xoom daily but its begining too show its age and im looking at a possible upgrade. Im thinking the new nexus 10 may be the best upgrade from the Xoom.
