[Edit as of 1-3-12] Install worked fine on my refurb nook until I got to Market, which wouldn't show any apps. But after a couple of days, market apps suddenly appeared, installed one, then did the the vendor.apk reinstall per instructions, all is good. Patience everybody.
For those who can't get Youtube to work, confirm you have the correct date and time settings. I couldn't get Youtube to work on a hacked PPC last year and resetting the date on the device fixed it.
Over the long weekend I have installed and tested about 60 working apps from Market, Amazon store, and sideload. Opera Mini is great with mobile pages. NYT and Slate apps work, and look better than their mobile web pages. Gmail works fine. Pulse, Taptu, Tapatalk, RSS readers and Newsrepublic work. Astro and Titanium both work and do backup. An older version of Kindle app works (tried the current version but it double flashes every page). All the book reader programs work to varying degrees (still trying to choose). Thanks OP, great root package. With some effort NST is now by far the best eink reader for those who want to read, but do more than just read books. I'll keep my Kindle 3g for its send to kindle feature and 3g browsing, but that's about it.
My old question remains, though, is there an easy way to reversably prevent b&n push updates? I ask reversably, since who knows what good stuff rev 1.2 will bring, maybe a stock browser? With my Nook Color I just changed a system file extension and it did the trick. Specifically, on my Nootered Nook Color while in 2.1 I just renamed /etc/security/otacerts.zip and there have been no updates. Any ideas here? Don't want to mess with anything that breaks this great root. Thanks
