Not sure why the stand alone wouldn't do it. And I flashed both your base rom and the updater. But I think mine is obviously an isolated incident tbh(there's always going to be one our two odd devices and in this case, mine must have been one). But after I flashed the modem, all is good.. And the modem is much better on my device..

What is the difference between NC2 and NC4?
NC2 is a leaked firmware, while NC4 is the official most recent update. NC4 includes bug fixes, but there's no official list for that. You won't find any official comparison between NC2 & NC4, simply because NC2 is unoffical/leaked.

Are you willing to post a stock version of the nc4 rom? Without any mods just rooted / busy box / supersu?
It's already available from JasmineROM OP or Downloads section.

Thank you i assume its the "base" download correct?

Will i be able to flash the secmmss5 and flashlight toggles without any problems? Or does it require me to be on 1.1

You can flash S5 SecMMS but not the flashlight toggle.

Why do you look for unmodified ROM?, do you've the DE? I'm already working on fixing DE kernel issues.

weird issue not many have. has happened on multiple devices but cant figure out why

basically on stock roms this issue goes away. on modified roms some work and some dont it doesnt let me send texts while someone else is sending me a text at the same time. If mine is in the process of sending and i recieve theirs then mine will fail. If someone is calling me while im texting someone and the icon is spinning as if its sending it will fail. i can tap on them and hit resend and it works.

Basically if im having a convo where me and the other person are texting quickly, the texts wont go through half the time.

if i flash a stock rooted rom, everything is back to normal

In Odin 3.9, extract the tar.md5 file & put it in AP (= what you did with NC2 firmware).

So...I decided to try NC4...after flashing via Odin, all seem to go well except for not having any signal at all where I normally have at least 2 bars of 3G indoors and 4G outdoors. Now, even after a foctory reset and flashing my backup, I have no signal, network status says searching for service and mobile network says disconnected. Anyone else have this issue?

Edit---I guess the towers are down here. Fine time for that to happen.

I am currently stuck in this bootloop. I thought pulling the battery would be enough but it isn't. It tries to boot to recovery which I do not have installed. Even if I just plug th phone into the charger while off it starts back into the bootloop. Will I be able to boot into download mode by plugging into a computer while holding the volume down button to get the recovery installed or am I hosed? I am on Baja Rom NC2 4.4.2. I knew I didn't have a recovery installed but I booted there by accident. any help is appreciated.

Edit - Found another thread that had this problem. Able to get the phone out of the loop. I'll be installing the recovery pronto now. Stupid me...

Getting out of bootloop with no recovery installed

How did you manage that? Can you give me link to that other thread? I managed to put my self in same exact situation.

Thanks,

Can you please point us to this thread; it's really helpful to link where you found the solution if others come across the same situation.

EDIT - Just followed the instructions in post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52868224&postcount=24

I apologize for not pointing to the solution. I just did some more searching on bootloops. Honestly I can't remember where I found it but all you need to do is boot the phone into download mode by holding down the vol down+home+power button. The first few times I tried to do it it did not work but I think I may have mashed the buttons in the wrong order or something. It did finally work though and allows you to exit the bootloop and reboot the phone normally. Once again sorry and hope this helps.

It's all good. I actually tried the same, but it didn't work. Ended up having luck with the link from my post above.

Questions re: NC2/NC4

Hi all,

I'm trying to understand the situation I'm in. I didn't get serious about rooting/flashing my Note 3 until I'd gone and accepted the NC4 OTA. I recognize that's a huge oops, but I'd like to know more of where my desire to flash a custom ROM stands. Prior to the NC4 update, I'd Kingo'ed for a basic root state. I ended up keeping root through the update. Now I'm obviously kicking myself for taking the update. I've done a lot of reading in these forums and I'm still mixed up about some stuff. I see a lot of discussion about flashing back to MJE to solve some problems. I also see info about flashing firmware and/or bootloader files to complete a ROM install (eg: Baja, Jasmine). I've followed the instructions for the two mentioned ROMs and wind up with an Odin error when I try to flash the firmware indicated by either ROM OP. In each case I used the AP slot, in Odin, to flash the firmware file. Also, I did not enter a PIT file with the firmware file. After the error, I have to re-flash the PIT file to get to a place where I can Odin back to NC4. I have tried to use Odin to flash MJE from that empty place (there was only a file structure, no OS...I think). That didn't work, either. I got another Odin error, so I re-flashed the PIT again and Odin'ed the NC4. Final point, I'm working on getting the required number of posts to be able to ask questions directly in the dev OP threads. That said, I apologize that this post is so long.

So here are my questions, thanks in advance for any insight/guidance that is shared.
  • 1. Using Odin, am I able to flash back to MJE? If so, how do I do that?
  • 2. If I am installing Baja or Jasmine, which Odin slot (AP, BL) do I enter the firmware flash?
  • 3. Is Odin v3.09 the most appropriate version to use?
  • 4. In this post about "How to flash files in Odin" the screenshots show the file in the BL slot. I thought I'd understood to use the AP slot. What am I missing?

I truly appreciate all the hard work and dedication I encounter in these forums. I'm learning every day and there is so much more to learn all the time. @BeansTown106, @az_biker, @hsbadr are just the few OPs I've been reading the heck out of recently. Their Thanks Meters are a testament to the profound nature of what they work on in the Android community. Anyone whom has read this far into this post, thank you for that time as well. Have a great rest of your day.

Since you've taken the OTA NC4, I don't think you can get back to MJE.

•2. If I am installing Baja or Jasmine, which Odin slot (AP, BL) do I enter the firmware flash?

Older versions of Odin use the PDA field, newer versions use the AP. If you're having partition issues, also flash the PIT file (all found in the link above)

•3. Is Odin v3.09 the most appropriate version to use?

It's the newest, and yes it works.

•4. In this post about "How to flash files in Odin" the screenshots show the file in the BL slot. I thought I'd understood to use the AP slot. What am I missing?

That is my bad. That is why I CIRCLED the correct fields to use for each step in each picture. These are just file pics I pulled from the Interwebularnet :D

I appreciate the kind words, but I REALLY do NOT belong in the same mention as @BeansTown106, @hsbadr : they create magic, I just help spread it :D

Thank you thank you thank you

•1. Using Odin, am I able to flash back to MJE? If so, how do I do that?

If you have NOT taken the OTA NC4, follow How To Flash Files In ODIN

•2. If I am installing Baja or Jasmine, which Odin slot (AP, BL) do I enter the firmware flash?

Older versions of Odin use the PDA field, newer versions use the AP. If you're having partition issues, also flash the PIT file (all found in the link above)

@az_biker: Thanks so much for your time. Your information is clear and helpful. I realize this might be reading between the lines, but I'll give it a go...since I have taken the NC4 OTA, I can save myself a lot of time and headache by reading only about ROMs and rooting related to native NC4. I say that based on your thread about "How to root 4.3 and NC4 OTA..." where we NC4'ers are directed to the bottom of the OP. And there, following those instructions, you mention Baja v15 final. Would those instructions work for Baja v16.1 July 4th ed, as well? Thanks again for your time and help.
