Instructions for reverting to stock would be nice. I can only assume you tick AP and leave other buttons default on Odin then let it rip but I`m only guessing.

Yes you just simply make sure your phone is plugged in and detected. Then check AP, search for the stock image. Then let it check over it, and once it's done doing that, then click start and let it do it's thing.

Do i need the pit file thats stated in step 2 to return to stock or just the stock recovery files from this thread?
I always use the Pit file when returning to stock or recovering from a bootloop situation(soft brick). However you most likely will not need if returning to stock from being rooted.

You don't need a tether app.
Just turn on the hot-spot and don't dismiss the VZ pop-up, you'll be good to go.
In FoxFi, this is correct.
Doing this on the native app, you can't do it with root (or without for that matter).
So, I unrooted using the Super user unroot button but I still have the lock symbol when starting up the phone. Is there a way to remove that lock symbol without flashing the stock files?

No way to remove the lock symbol without root and xposed framework + wanam's module. Without root there is no way at all.
There is also no way to go to stock without flashing the stock files which wipe data. Sorry to give you so much bad news amigo!
You could use Helium - App Sync and Backup which is like Titanium Backup but doesn't require root. That's basically your last resort for saving data.

Once your phone fully reboots and Odin says success then disconnect from Odin and reboot one more time.
