- same firmware for single and dual sim

- pit file is in CSC_N960......tar.md5 so you dont need to add it with ODIN

pQ8lnoA.png

- don't forget to save all your data before changing a CSC because first command is :
--delete_efs_ota
--data_resizing
--delete_apn_changes

- how to know your firmware CSC :
setting/about phone/software informaion/Service provider SW ver
version : SAOMC_SM-N960F_SER_SER_OO_0014
active CustomerCode / CustomerCode for SIM / Original CustomerCode ( from NonVolatile items )

bt1nqDj.png

all these informations are extracted from the firmware folders : CSC_OMC_..._N960F..._user_low_ship.tar.md5

for N960U and N960U1 : reset firmware and factory reset don't work to change CSC according the sim tray and i don't know how to do it without a rooted device

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wD1g2eqrrs

- System/omc is mount only in executable , so if your device is not rooted you can't read the folder with an explorer app

- please do not copy/paste this thread ( only the link )

- if you have a problem with combination file , you can try :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79164140&postcount=208

download links are on sammobile : https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
and if you have another question about CSC maybe i can help you
csc should be in odm.img.lz4 right?

so for one to change their csc as before they could convert and extract contents of that image and copy to phone and set correct permissions right?( using:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!AhXVLDDj8g3AgdJZvVHcXqqlKgy0dg odm.img.lz4 should be converted with lz4.exe and then the output img extracted with imgextractor.exe)

my point was why nothing is said about acctualy changing csc.( this is probably what people would like to know, this was what i expected from this thread at least)

theoretically like before, if you are rooted but on a exynos note 9 this time, one could change their csc by extracting from any exynos or even snapdragon firmware the csc files. before csc packs were flashable i would extract from a canadian firmware my required carriers csc files and paste them in my system/omc folder on my korean note 8 and apply original permissions.

from what i can gather now, its simply named odm instead of omc right?

yes CSC are in odm.img.lz4 ( like you can see in post 1 )
i have not tested your tools , and maybe you can extract N960 odm.img.lz4 with them , but not all Samsung CSC
like i extract plenty of other files ( .img . nb0 .sin .ext4 .dat .lz4 .bin .ta r.gz .dat ..dat.br , i have made my own batch extractor
Samsung CSC are not attach to exynos or snapdragon , but N950 CSC are differents than N960 CSC
now if you want to play , with your rooted device , it's your own risk and you can try to extract N850W omc and copy them to your N950N

from what i can gather now, its simply named odm instead of omc right?

no N960W odm have more folders than N950W omc

I'm a bit confused by this thread. Is this suggesting that you can extract a CSC from a firmware image for any Galaxy Note 9 (doesn't matter what region or if it's Snapdragon or Exynos) and flash that CSC your Galaxy Note 9 even if your Note 9 has firmware that wouldn't have had that CSC as something selectable in the image? CSCs can be taken from any image and put into any image, regardless of region, Snapdragon/Exynos, etc so long as it's still a Galaxy Note 9?

I'm trying to get Samsung Pay to work on a Korean Note 9 and I gathered that taking a US CSC file and putting it in the image may work based upon what I've read in this thread. Am I misunderstanding this?

yes , i extract all device Samsung CSC ( since GT-I900 to SM-N960 ) , but like it's written in post 1 , CSC is mount in executable and file is signed , so if your device is not rooted you can't flash extracted CSC

Thanks! It sounds like I need to attempt to root and see if I can hide root with Magisk so I can try your CSC files if I want this to work. Otherwise, I was thinking of flashing an Exynos firmware from another region (like UK or something) IF it allows Samsung Pay in the US with the bundled CSC.

In any case, thanks for all of the work you put into CSC aggregation and how to flash it.

Much appreciated!

if your device is N960U1 and if your carrier is AT&T you dont need to change the firmware :
try this :
save all your data
- Power off the device
- remove the sim tray.
- Go to recovery , HOLD home ( or bixby button ) + Volume up together , and power up
- In recovery , chose factory reset .. This will give a warning and then reset everything
- Choose power off , in the recovery and insert sim tray .. you should do this before booting up as your CSC will be configured when you will start
- Power on the phone , wait and . then chose restart to system now when asked
- wait and after reboot , your CSC have change according the sim tray

i've tried this, no luck.

i mean the phone works fine, i'm just looking to see if i can flash the stock ATT firmware so that i can take advantage of hd calls and visual voicemail, both of which don't work currently uder unlocked firmware

n9600 with root and tmobile dsc?

Hello,
I have a similar question about swapping CSC's. If I have a phone with unlocked boot-loader (N9600- Snapdragon), could this be flashed to the CSC tmobile version and still maintain root? I apologize if the answer should be clear from the first post.
Thank you,
-Monterey

if your device is rooted , i think yes without flashing firmware , only by changing some files in system/omc like for older devices
install a file explorer ( root browser ) and post a screenshot of system/odm and system/odm/omc

Thank you yakapa40,
I will try this when I can get a phone. Still have a V20 LG, but would like to get the Note 9, if root is possible on SD845. I will miss a few bands for TMobile, but worth it for an unlocked phone . I think the N9600 is my only option.

Nice. But please someone, proper how to is needed

good day, please forgive me for my lack of knowledge on this but I am trying to get the CSC SM-N960W to add the the N960F/DS note 9 that I purchased.
Do I download a stock image of the SM-N960W and extract what is mentioned in op?

csc should be in odm.img.lz4 right?

so for one to change their csc as before they could convert and extract contents of that image and copy to phone and set correct permissions right?( using:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!AhXVLDDj8g3AgdJZvVHcXqqlKgy0dg odm.img.lz4 should be converted with lz4.exe and then the output img extracted with imgextractor.exe)

from what i can gather now, its simply named odm instead of omc right?

ok then its exactly like before. manualy changing csc should be easy then. ill report back when i get the time to do the procedure.

yup it worked, replaced odm files from a stock firmware csc.
edited to specify the carrier and region in the different text files. also changed reference of phone type. only keep your specific region code folder to save space also no need to copy the app folder.
edit also build.prob in root of odm. add ref to your csc like all files in omc and, i also change ro.omc.disabler= to false

then edit efs/imei text files too.

took a couple of hours to figure what csc codes(region and carrier) and phone model codes to change.

couldint be happier. volte, wifi calling, spamm calls etc options are all there.
just need rogers to whitelist my damn phone imei so i can acctualy enroll wifi calling. ( non rogers phone are blacklisted by default)but the option is fully functional and is asking me to enable wifi calls wen i connect to an ssid.

oh and of course you need to set all originalset the correct permissions too. dont forget that when replacing and editing.

did this procedure last year on the note 8 before people were making csc packs and wondered if it still worked.( it does!)

so its still possible in virtually the same method as before. just a few folder structure changes.

hope this help tinkerers to enjoy their international note 9 fully with their desired carrier features.

ill let OP update and create a how too because im too lazy and to be frank i was expecting this procedure to be covered in first post.

    EDIT:

I've added a few pictures of what to edit once you have extracted/converted files and copied them in your odm folder.(please check permissions and restores them!(files and folders))

In odm, you can delete app folder and you can also delete contents of the whole omc before copying files over if you want. And you can only keep your specific csc folder and not copy the other carriers(suggested).

screen pictures arent in order but will give you a good idea of what to do what where to do it.

if you are scared of screwing anything up, in TWRP, backup:

    EFS
    CARRIER FILES

these two locations correspond to your phones ODM and EFS folders.

Once you successfully change your csc and phone is how you like it, go back up these two locations again in case for future use.

Here is my onedrive link to the 7zip archive of the canadian csc and a pictures folder:

    https://1drv.ms/f/s!AhXVLDDj8g3AgdYos0JJyj2FqDbZ5g

***again, dontforget to restore original folder and file permissions!***(if unsure check pictures, with root explorer you can apply permissions to a root directory and use child folder enherency to set non execute, saves quite alot of time....)

In the above quote, Ive added more info on changing the csc without the need to wipe or remove sim.

in my example, XAC is region country code(canada), so change to your own.

RWC is my carrier sales code, again change to your desired carrier.

the phone model code matches the region's phone model you want to change the csc to. its not the one your device is from. so again change accordingly.( not sure if it is required but i got everything working properly that way)
