unlocked on metro/tmobile and got an update this morning but it was just June update patch.. not ui 2.1

I'm getting funny errors trying to ODIN your link to my 960U (AT&T). I've tried different cables, different USB ports, different versions of ODIN. ODIN nor my phone shows any progress after I start the process. The process always fails. It doesn't ever show any progress in the ODIN app or my phone's 'Download Mode' screen.
Any ideas?

Just for kicks, I just manually checked for updates. There are none. T-mobile USA user, here.

Not sure what else to try I've had a few on Android Central download my link and successfully flashed with no issues.

EDIT - I tried with @butchieboy zip and ODIN 3.14.4. Tried with two cables and two different USB ports on laptop: nothing. I've more or less resigned to just waiting for OTA.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm no expert, but I'm not a stranger to ODIN/ Flashing/ etc... I ODIN'd Q-Beta from Pie no problems; on top of years of experience messing with other Notes. Even if I mess up the process, I can correct and complete. I can't even get the process started this time. I don't know whether to suspect hardware or software.
I get stuck at SetupConnection. Is that where yours fails too?
EDIT: Got it. Believe it or not, it would not work on the USB2 port or either of the USB3 ports on my laptop. Worked fine through a port on my USB C dock. Wild! I would have figured USB2 port would be best and never would have expected it to work through a dock.
Also, I used the firmware downloaded from samfirm after I had issues with the other one from AFH.

Thank you so much for your post! I didn't even think about that! My laptop has 2 USB 3.0 ports. I do have a 'laptop hub' that I use for my on-the-road Dex setup... I plugged that into my laptop and ran my phone cable out of the laptop hub. ODIN is processing right now. Looking like it will complete!

Do you notice any changes/ improvements yet? I don't think I'll get the OTA...
I just got the August update on AT&T. I also used odin to update to 2.1so glad to see i still get OTAs. Have not noticed anything really and it started the second my phone turned on wifi. Was attempting to look at my security cam.
