Do you have a overlayer on it from either Hex or Substratum ' if so you need to update the overlayer for that app.

Hex themes will cause gmail to force close.if you have that overlay installed uninstall to troubleshoot.

No, neither Hex nor Substratum, just using the native dark mode.
If no one else is having issues outside of those theme engines, then it's likely just something weird on my phone that a factory reset will remedy.

Will post my findings this evening.

Edit:

Figured out the culprit :
It was Package Disabler Pro, I didn't re-enable everything before taking the update (as recommended IIRC).
After re-enabling everything, no more force-closing of G-Mail or my banking app.

Package disabler pro was the culprit for video playback when I went to 10. If you tried full screen it would force close. Had to switch to a different version

Lol how you doing butchieboy. I know it's been so long since I have done some custom rom work. I miss those days, but I be around just looking and checking xda from time to time.

Just hanging in here with all these good peeps. Saw you here brought back memories of Darthstalker. I went to 10 on At&t, but went back to 9 will continue to check here to see if anyone is having issues. I think the issue I had was same as Koliosis, I didnt enable disabled apps before taking the OTA

You can try Disk Digger. There is an app for it, also you can use Windows PC version. But for it to dig deep it requires root but will restore some things without root.

Thanks butchie I found out apparently that nothing has really been deleted but the SD card was having some weird issue where it wouldn't show all the file on it.

Went through a few steps and hurdles and got it fixed ?

It's been a few years since I last had an AT&T device on another service.
However, when I updated, I had to get an active AT&T SIM Card to pull the update, even if the phone is SIM Unlocked & paid for.

Perhaps this isn't true any more, but, if there is an AT&T update available & you can't get it, I'd call an AT&T rep & see if they can be of service.

My Note 9 was originally bought at the AT&T store. I bought unlock code on eBay. I've used it with T-Mobile and Verizon... I'm on Verizon now and recieved the OTA about 4 days ago now. I did have to do a Factory Data Reset... It was acting all funky...

I just bought an unlocked Note 9 from eBay and i have not received the update yet. When i first started the phone it showed a AT&T boot screen then it noticed my sim and change to a Verizon boot scree. I tried an AT&T sim and no update and Verizon has not update my phone ether. Is there as SDcard update i con download or a way to figure out if I have a Samsung unlocked phone ow what carrier it was with?

I have Verizon note 9 on u1 unlocked firmware. Used smart switch on PC to update.

Make sure u have good internet connection and USB debugging is enabled.
