Nandroid directly to PC

I have the 8gig nexus and usually don't have more than 500 mb free at a time.
Is it possible to do a nandroid and directly save it to my PC through USB instead of on the phone's SD first and then transferring?

I read that.. Just hoped there would be a simpler way. Like maybe mounting my SD card through twrp and then somehow hijacking the nandroid data to the PC piece by piece
