Yes, to write the apk to you /system/app dir, or a custom recovery to flash zip.

It depends on your contract. If your contract has a possibility to send sms then you cand send them. For example Finnish mobile broadband SIM cards usually include this possibility.

Im hoping someone can give me an answer please.
I've recently bought the N7 3G.

Is it capable of being hooked up to a cellular provider and used as a phone would be?
Or can it only be hooked up to a data plan?

My device is unlocked and rooted and i've been plaing with a few roms but there is never a phone app. wtf??

I run it on a per minute plan and pay $10 per month for data. So I have free unlimited incoming SMS and I can send SMS too. I could use the plan as a phone but for now the N7 can't be used as a phone AFAIK.

So yes it runs on normal cell plans with a phone number but no the tablet cannot be used as a phone yet. There are some devs here trying to get this working.

About the double notification: if u go to settings > apps > all > "simple message receiver" and deactivate notifications, u will get only 1 notification when receiving a SMS/MMS. Dont know if this affects other apps, but i did not get any errors untill now.

Yes, no rooting methods break NFC AFAIK. I have root and NFC still works fine on mine and I've not seen any reports of it having issues.
Not right now, and it's looking more and more unlikely.

• A little bit bigger text message box (when it expands) so you can have a better view of your text, not much scrolling.

Disclaimer: this is the first custom app I've ever installed....

I'm having problems installing this app...
I have tried copying it to my rooted Nexus 7 (3G) and installation fails.
I have tried installing it with adb and I get the following:

Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]

Any pointers?

You can install it from the Play store for free and it works fine.
Only need to have data enabled. No root required.
