Navigation & Notification Bar Issues

When I first got the tablet installed Google Now Launcher and everything was fine. About a month ago I decided to check out an update to the Nova Launcher and when I came back to Google Now Launcher both the Navigation and Notification bars are no longer translucent (transparent). I get these ugly black bars that I can't get rid of.

Here's what I've tried to fix this.
- Clearing Cache + Data for Google app, Google Now Launcher, and Google Play Services then rebooting. (Didn't work)
- Uninstalling and reinstalling those same apps. (Didn't work)
- Reapplying the Wallpaper. (Didn't work)

I'm haven't rooted my tablet and don't plan on rooting it either. Does anyone have any other tips or tricked they could share? This is getting very frustrating, and I don't want to do a factory reset. I have games that don't save data to the cloud. And again I'm not resorting to root. Thank you for your help in advance.

Nova has an advanced option to enable/disable status bar transparency. Check that. Also, maybe the fact that Nova is installed messes with the status bar? I'm using Nova and don't have the issue.

I uninstalled Nova a few minutes after I installed it. I just wanted to check out a feature that it got new at the time. Haven't used it since.

Maybe try installing Nova again and mess with the setting I mentioned? I have the feeling it left something behind, messing up the transparency of your status bar.

Idk why it would do that cuz I didn't mess with any of the Nova settings, but I'll give it a shot.
