Hi every one ..
First of I'd like to tell u guys that i respect the helpful souls that you all have ...

Second .. let's get to the point ..
I have a galaxy s5 g900v (NI2) build

I wanted to root this device but I faced a problem with connecting it to the pc

I tried everything ... samsung drivers .. battery pull .. but what ever I do its still not showing .. (note that I rooted my friends phones on the same laptop and everything works fine)

I think it's a problem with the charging port .. but I'm not sure cuz everything else is going well (charging and otg cable)

Can I root the phone using stock recovery mode using (apply update through sd card)?
If the answer is no ..
Is there a chance that if i updated to lollipop that the usb will work?

Any suggestions to solve this problem? :)

You're able to connect to the computer as a media device and transfer files?
Look in the port with a flashlight to see if there's any obvious damage, or pocket lint or something.
Try a couple different microUSB cables, and try different USB ports on your laptop. Also try it on a different computer if possible. If none of that works, you're probably dealing with a damaged data port. In other words, you'd be out of luck (unless you're really good at soldering very small components, and have a high tolerance for risk).

You can't flash anything but full system updates through stock recovery. Updating won't fix a hardware issue.
You're in a bit of a catch-22: all methods of flashing kernels, apart from Odin, first require root access (flashfire, safestrap, kernel flashing apps), and you need to be able to flash an NCG kernel to obtain root.

thanks a lot bro .. but I won't be exaggerating if I told you that I have already tried everything you mentioned ..

One point to note ... only one Compaq laptop showed my device when I connected to it .. but cuz of that bad luck that keeps following me .. the laptop owner formated it the next day before I get the chance to root it ..

I know that doesn't make any sense .. but I don't have a clue why this issue is happening to me

Thanks again man ..

I had the same problem it would charge correctly and it'd connect to the computer for a split second before it disconnected but would still charge and I thought it was the data port because my dog was clawing at my phone while it was on my couch trying to get her ball and I thought that messed it up i wound up having to reflash my ROM and do a full wipe everything but SD card to fix it but it did fix it so in my opinion upgrading would work but beware you won't be able to downgrade to 4.4 again if u do

It's worth a try. See if you can find a BOD5 update image. That would preserve your ability to downgrade to KitKat, since BOE1 and later lock the bootloader.
