Hi,
I edited a n2 ROM, so it should now install on the s3.
Remember to install it to second rom, not first ROM, as that can brick it.

Here is the rom

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_krkpxyd558TjE4b0NCNmhJTlk/edit

The IMG I need is /data/media/.secondrom/system.img
Thanks again for doing this.

Let me know if the ROM installs OK as the second rom on siyah.

Cheers
Corey

EDIT:

I added permissions to the email [email protected]
So u can download it with that account.

Thanks

Downloading now, what app or recovery are you using for dual boot? Or is it part of the rom flash update script that it has an option? I've only done dual booting a couple times and I can't remember what I was using.

Hi,
The dual boot for the s3 comes from this kernel

http://www.gokhanmoral.com/

You just flash that in recovery, reboot recovery, select "dual boot options"
Select "wipe data and cache "
Select "install zip to second ROM"
And choose The ROM I sent.

The dual boot I am trying to get working on the note 2 is just a port of the ramfs from that kernel.

The ROM should install, but let me know if it doesn't

Thanks again

Cheers
Corey

I can't install that Kernel. (Tried two versions to verify)

It seems like it's for a different variant of the S3. I'm on the Sprint variant... My guess is that kernel only works on International variants of the S3? Idk that I can help here...

My wife got a new S3 and I rooted it yesterday. Tonight I'll flash Omega ROM and after that I can try to multi boot.
How to get access to download your ROM?
Also I am not sure multi booting is working with Omega ROM installed as 1st ROM... I remember I read something about it not working before.

NOTE: This thread is starting to look more like a "SUPPORT" thread than a "DEVELOPER DISCUSSION" thread.

I understand the reason for it, but please steer it back to developer discussion. I'm not shy about deleting posts and leaving gaps.

Thank you

Ok the last 5-10 post are very confusing....do I understand right that you have dualboot working

It was easier for me to understand the code you was posting and my development skills are limited to mainly apps

Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Hi,
No I haven't got dual boot working yet.
I am editing some things in various fstabs and init files, and I will test it soon hopefully.
The second ROM still freezes on boot at the moment.

Any success bro? Lot of people looking forward to this :)!
Hi,
I have been busy studying for university, and Microsoft exams, and I have been packing to move back to England in 3 weeks, and I have had some websites that I was building that needed finishing for people, so I haven't been able to do any of The kernel the last week or two.
Also I have had to rebuild my PC.

The kernel is still freezing on boot up of the second ROM.
But I have found some lines of code in the ftab.2 and init.2 files in /sbin/misc/init.41 that could be causing the problem, and I will try changing them as soon as I get time.

But its all very hectic here at the moment, and my WiFi and speaker on my note 2 have broken, so I also need to send it to a service center aswell. So I don't know when I will be able to get round to it, but I will try as soon as I can.

Cheers

Wow, you sound kinda busy lol. Good luck!
DerTeufel has had made amazing progress with his dual boot kernel for the i9000. I'm going to test it tomorrow and let you know. Perhaps you could reverse engineer his work to get it to work on the n7100.

Cheers

I wouldn't go that far to test dual boot! Siyah kernel for S3 is something to reverse engineer. Why S1 when its an entirely different hardware and completely different partition layout? Even the file system is Samsung proprietary on S1.

I have 2 s3 and that kernel bricked my T-Mobile one. But I gladly test the kernel if one is needed
