You cannot unzip files using WinRAR, etc. because they are encrypted. The files are to be used as is. New business: Why are you trying to install 3.2.1r2?
Thanks for replying. Well actually I just want for my tablet to work. Right now it just freezes in the sony logo. I tried to do the factory restore pressing the power and Vol+ , but it says fail to read the boot and then fail to mount. I looked in the sony website but the only said I have to send it to repair.
In the menu where it says to do factory restore it also gives the option to update system from sd card, that's why I was looking to see if this will make it work.
Please advice

What model of tablet do you have?
What version of Android is currently installed?
What was done to the tablet (e.g., installed an app, tried to root it, etc.) just prior to its failing to boot?

It's a Sony SGPT111US/S. I'm not sure what android had because I purchased it like that. I thougth that it just needed the factory restore but it didn't work, so I'm trying to load new software thru the SD card, Thanks

Attached is the picture of what the screen shows.
The image says Android system recovery (Rev.29) is installed and if my recall is correct, Rev.29 was part of the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update, so that is probably what is installed, which means you cannot install Android 3.2.1r2. You will need to install Android 4.0.3r1a or greater. If you plan on rooting your tablet, do not installed stock Android 4.0.3r5a. Check out the links in my signature.

Dude, if this Tablet S is anything like Xperia Tablet S, you are in trouble... From your screenshot it seems that partitions of that device are totally messed up and OTA update zip will not reflash everything, just system and datapp... If anything else is messed up, OTA update won't help...

You would need zip, which is meant to re-init everything. My Xperia Tablet S was recovered with zip file whic was named ...-install-... instead of ...-ota-... (by Sony Service Center) and it fixed everything while OTA did not work at all.

Problem is that unlike almost every other manufacturer, Sony (VAIO) does not want to distribute these proper recovery zips (or equivalent means to reflash). This is the reason I will never buy any Sony product again even though I know Sony Mobile is much better.

We had only -installer- file for P tab. Do you have somewhere full name of the -installer- file?
It could be usefull. We could find that zip on sony servers.

My XTS was recovered by Sony using this file:

/sdcard/signed-txs03_300-installer-120914016.zip

While matching OTA version is:

signed-txs03_300-ota-120914016.zip

So only ota is replaced with installer. I checked out recovery log after Sony had recovered my device and it re-flashed all the partitions on my device, while OTA flashes just system and unzips vendor apps. I was stupid enough not to pull that recovery log to my computer for offline analysis and my later JB update erased it.

Haven't been able to find these *-installer-* files anywhere from the internet also. If you can find one from Sony's servers then you just de-bricked all the devices from this forum :)

Ps. When I got my device back, they had forgotten sd card to my device, which contained this installer file. When I was leaving they remembered it and demanded it back :) Damn... I am sure that zip could have been used to recover everybody's device no matter the region since it skipped version check also (I had r6b, yet still recovered using r5, though bootloader was NOT downgraded). Perhaps somebody having bricked device, residing on some more "relaxed" country could just ask those ZIP files from Sony and do some small favor for it for them? :)

Hi,
im sorry to grab this very old thread.
I have a Sony Xperia Tablet S WLAN + 3G 16 GB (SGPT131) (Germany) here and deleted a lot of pre installed apps.
The current firmware is 4.1.1 (release2). Is there a way to go back to the status before i deleted all these apps?
Firmware reinstallation? Install deleted apps by hand?

Device is rooted.
