test

I'm getting 27-29 frames while playing Metroid on my Samsung Focus. This is fantastic. Let me know if you want me to test other things. I'm looking forward to trying this with sound.

Contra plays well, 28-30 frames. the buttons are hard to use though, and it's hard to do diagonal on the control pad.

Tetris has major problems. You can see the blocks coming down, but once they land they aren't visible any longer. Also you can't see the background either. framerates are fine, around 27 or 28.

Looking forward to it..... :)

More thoughts...

1. Cut out the .nes at the name of every rom (just the actuall file name) so it will look neater.
2. Grab a background say from bings current or something.
3. Save games :)

Love it so far...
y, I'll tidy up the UI before the next beta, I'll try to get saved games done as well.

Just thinking of adding a few more ways to add your roms, since u would lose your saved games if u have to re-deploy the xap file. Maybe going with saving to Skydrive?

I'll check out the Tetris mapper, didn't know about that one, so keep the feedback coming.

Just trying to give you input on the interface, just trying to help...

I'm still going to say that USB Drive thing, if the mapping thing will work. Any WP7 Device can use it (as long as you have Zune installed) and if you put a NES folder in there. Save the save games with .Sav etc or something, matching the name of the file, so it will be easy to spot.

Only problem I have with saving to the "Cloud" or Skydrive is when I am flying or traveling in a dead coverage area. No access to the internet at those times and that means I can't play those games on my phone because I will lose my save game.

Unless you know of another, non-cloud methoid to store/upload new games/save games? Maybe if it's just a sync with the cloud when it has access but, if it needs to access it to do anything, it could be an issue.

I could always place the saved files in a seperate folder so you could access it from USB, just go into the isolated storage for the application, if USB drive lets u have access to those folders.

It would definitely be like an optional sync method to keep your saved files safe, saved files would be saved to isolated storage.

As for adding new games, it wouldn't be too much of an hassle to download additional roms from a webserver/skydrive/cloud then save them to isolated storage. Since it's pretty impractical to have to redeploy the entire xap file everytime you want a new game.

Sounds, good, if you can map that folder as an extra watched place, it will be easy for people who are connected on their PC to just drag and drop a rom in a folder and it works. That was my whole thought process behind saying it before.

Save games, as I know the files will be small, so how ever you want to back them up but, it might be worth it to sync with a place for backup reasons or in the USB folder, as someone could just copy that folder for backup or copy of saves.... Just an idea...

I 100% agree, having to deploy it again to add one or 2 games is a pain in the A$$...but, didn't I say that before :)

I also want to note, as I am not sure what MS's policy(skydrive or other file storage option) of storing possable questionable legal roms on their webservers, it could become an issue. I would hate for Nintendo get into a beef with MS and they just delete any .nes files on their servers. In the US Nintendo says it's not legal, but, the courts say its possably legal for backup reasons, anyway about it, it's a battle that is very questionable.

Just something to think about with the "cloud" options.

Yeah that's why I haven't really used that GB emulator myself, don't want my live account/web host to terminate my accounts. It's always legal for personal backup, but u can't really share them publicly like ppl are doing with WJ7. However it would be less risky if u were to host the nes files temporary then download them into isolated storage from the emulator.

Just put the new 'refresh' version of Mango on my phone and I'm still getting the same FPS. But it appears to be a little more accurate. Before it would say I was getting 27-30 FPS but that just didn't seem right. Like it played a little slow for that speed, but now it appears to run pretty good. Awesome!

In the process of updating myself, says they've improved the profiling tools as well in the release notes.

The emulator tries to run as fast as possible, so they could have optimized a few more things so it runs faster, looking forward to try it myself.

Just a quick update;
Improved the UI some, savestates are kinda working and the controller feels more reponsive.

Trying out some speed improvements, but sound is still slowing it down too much, prolly make a checkbox for enabling sound either way.

Also debating if I'm gonna take the time to add a way to download roms into app for the next release.

And lastly, anyone interested in making a fancy app tile for the beta 2?

Sure that would be sweet, I still have some more testing to do before I can release the beta 2. I've also added a way to pin any game to your homescreen as well as autosave.

At LG e900/Optimus7 the fps in smb3 from 28-30 FPS ^^
